Ratliff Stadium
Ratliff Stadium is a stadium in Odessa, Texas. It is primarily used for American football, and is the home field for the city's two public high schools, Odessa and Permian High Schools. The stadium opened in 1982 and holds 17, 931 people (capacity was reduced from the original 19,302 people when additional handicapped seating and accomodations were added in 2008). It was the stadium used during filming of most of the football action in the 2004 movie '' Friday Night Lights'', an adaptation of a 1990 book about Permian's 1988 football season. William Ratliff (1937 - April 11, 2014) was a research fellow and curator of Americas Collection at Stanford University's Hoover Institution, specializing in Latin America, China and U.S. foreign policy. He was also a research fellow of the Independent Institute and wrote on the economic and political development in East/Southeast Asia and Latin America. For over 20 years he was the editor for the ''Yearbook on International Communist Affairs'' and the ''Journal of Interamerican Studies''. He testified before the U.S. Congress on his work monitoring elections around Latin America. Jeremiah Jerome Ratliff (born August 29, 1981), formerly known as Jay Ratliff, is a former American football nose tackle in the National Football League (NFL) for the Dallas Cowboys and Chicago Bears.
