Ratih Hardjono
Ratih Hardjono (born 6 December 1960) is an Indonesian journalist for ''Kompas'', an author, and a public affairs consultant. Her first book, ''White Tribe of Asia'', a discussion of Australia's culture, history and politics, was published in 1993. She was Presidential Secretary to Abdurrahman Wahid, and in 2000, she served as Programme Coordinator Information and Publication for United Nations Development Programme (UNDP) Indonesia. Two years later, she co-edited a book, ''The Poor Speak Up, 17 Stories of Corruption'', for the World Bank. Hardjono married Fajrul Falaakh, vice dean of law at Gadjah Mada University. Bruce Grant (writer)
Bruce Alexander Grant (4 April 1925 – 3 August 2022) was an Australian journalist, foreign correspondent, government advisor, diplomat, novelist and author of several books on Australian politics and foreign policy. Early life Grant was born in Perth on 4 April 1925, and grew up in Kalgarin in outback Western Australia. His success in a state exam won him a place at Perth Modern School. Journalist Grant cut short his final year of secondary schooling to join Perth afternoon newspaper, the '' Daily News'' as a reporter. Kim Beazley
Kim Christian Beazley (born 14 December 1948) is an Australian former politician and diplomat. He was leader of the Australian Labor Party (ALP) and leader of the opposition from 1996 to 2001 and 2005 to 2006, having previously been a cabinet minister in the Hawke and Keating governments. Kyai
A kyai ( ) is an expert in Islam, usually used among the ethnic Javanese people. Origins The word is of Javanese origin. Sometimes it is spelled kiai. Traditionally, students of Islam in Indonesia would study in a boarding school known as a pesantren. The leader of the school was called kyai, as a form of respect. The traditional word for a teacher in Islam is ustad, which is a Persian word. There are many ustads in Indonesia who teach the religion, but most of them do not have a boarding school. Education Kiai were educated in various pesantren: A student in a pesantren is called a santri. After the founding kyai of a pesantren dies, his son or another santri may take over the supervision of the school, and would then be called kyai. It is possible for a large boarding school to have several kyai living and teaching there. However, most pesantren have a few hundred students, with only one person who is called kyai.
