Rathcannon
Rathcannon is a townland in County Tipperary. It is located in the civil parish of Holycross . Rathcannon Bridge carries the R661 road over the River Clodagh a tributary of the River Suir. Murders, execution and transportation On 30 June 1827, a murder was committed at Rathcannon, which led to another murder, an attempted murder, the execution of six men and the transportation of six others for life. Richard Chadwick (1800–1827) of Reddans Walk, just north of Tipperary town, was a local magistrate as well as land agent for his uncle, William Sadlier of Sadleirswells House (later known as Kingswell House), north of Tipperary town, a landlord who owned considerable properties in County Tipperary and was an active supporter and promoter of the Orange Order in Tipperary town. Henry William Paget, 1st Marquess of Anglesey (17 May 1768 – 29 April 1854), styled Lord Paget between 1784 and 1812 and known as the Earl of Uxbridge between 1812 and 1815, was a British Army officer and politician. After serving as a member of parliament for Carnarvon and then for Milborne Port, he took part in the Flanders Campaign and then commanded the cavalry for Sir John Moore's army in Spain during the Peninsular War; his cavalry showed distinct superiority over their French counterparts at the Battle of Sahagún and at the Battle of Benavente, where he defeated the elite chasseurs of the French Imperial Guard. During the Hundred Days he led the charge of the heavy cavalry against Comte d'Erlon's column at the Battle of Waterloo. At the end of the battle, he lost part of one leg to a cannonball. Ballymurreen (), also written Ballymoreen, is a civil parish and an electoral division in County Tipperary, Ireland. It is one of 21 civil parishes in the barony of Eliogarty. As a Church of Ireland parish, it was in the diocese of Cashel. The ruins of a church are still to be seen in Ballymurreen townland, at the junction of a minor road from Holycross with the R639, but there was no parish church in modern times, members of the established church attending services in the neighbouring parish of Borrisleigh, at Littleton which is located between the exclave of Rathcunikeen and the main part of Ballymoreen. Clonmel () is the county town and largest settlement of County Tipperary, Republic of Ireland, Ireland. Killenaule
Killenaule () is a small town and civil parish in County Tipperary, Ireland. It is part of the ecclesiastical parish of Killenaule and Moyglass, in the Roman Catholic Archdiocese of Cashel and Emly, and the barony of Slievardagh. It is east of Cashel on the R689 and R691 roads, at the south-western edge of the Slieveardagh Hills. History Killenaule came to national prominence in Ireland due to the discovery of the Derrynaflan Chalice. It was discovered in Derrynaflan Island in 1980 by Michael Webb and his son. They were scanning the area with a metal detector, then a relatively new device on the market. The chalice was part of the Derrynaflan Hoard, consisting of an 8th-century chalice, a strainer or ladle and a paten. They were enclosed in a bronze basin buried 45 cm below ground and found about 20 metres from a church ruin. Borrisokane
Borrisokane () is a town in County Tipperary, Ireland. It is situated at the junction of the N52 and N65 national secondary roads. At the 2016 census, it had a population of 942. The Ballyfinboy River flows through the town on its way to Lough Derg, to the west. It is also a civil parish in the historical barony of Ormond Lower and an Ecclesiastical parish in the Roman Catholic Diocese of Killaloe.
