Rasmus Breistein
Rasmus Breistein (November 16, 1890 – October 16, 1976) was a Norwegian film director.Sundholm, John et al. ''Historical Dictionary of Scandinavian Cinema''. Lanham, MD: The Scarecrow Press, p. 88. Life Breistein was born in Åsane in the city of Bergen in Hordaland county, Norway. He was a farmer's son and learned to play fiddle in his youth, playing for dances at weddings in Western Norway. Later in life, in addition to directing films, he also performed on the Hardanger fiddle. When the Norwegian Theater opened in 1913, he started acting at the theater. He became engaged with the new medium of film after seeing Peter Lykke-Seest's productions, and he decided to produce films in a completely different way. His first film was '' Fante-Anne'' (Gypsy Anne, 1920). In an interview he stated that "the film was the beginning of something, a Norwegian production with a more national character." Trysil-Knut
''Trysil-Knut'' is a Norwegian film from 1942. Rasmus Breistein directed this skiing melodrama during the German occupation of Norway. It tells the story of the legendary skier Knut from Trysil, an ardent patriot at the beginning of the 1800s who uses his skiing skills to prevent war from breaking out between Norway and Sweden. Knut also wins back a property that he was cheated out of and his "princess." Like many of the films from the interwar period or the occupation years, this is an adventure story. Breistein's point of departure for the story was a popular novel by Rudolf Muus from 1914, and he was also inspired by Bernt Lund's poem from 1861 and by 's story from 1909. ''Hu Dagmar'' (Wow, Dagmar) is a Norway, Norwegian drama comedy film from 1939 directed by Rasmus Breistein. It is based on Ove Ansteinsson's play ''Hu Dagmar''. Breistein and Ansteinsson also wrote the film's script together. The film stars Randi Heide Steen, Arne Bang-Hansen, and Eva Sletto. Plot Sjur returns one summer day to his parents' home at Råvangen. He has just become a corporal in Oslo, and he brings with him his fiancée Dagmar, a beautiful and distinctively city girl. Dagmar will live at Råvangen this summer, while Sjur travels around the heath. Dagmar is met with great skepticism both by Sjur's family and by the villagers, and not least by Ingeborg, Sjur's old girlfriend. Bryn Church ( no, Bryn kirke) is a long church ( no, langkirke) located in Rykkinn in the municipality of Bærum in Akershus county, Norway. ''Felix'' is a Norwegian silent drama film from 1921. The film is based on the story ''Keiser Felix'' by Gustav Aagaard. It was adapted into a screenplay by Gunnar Nilsen-Vig, who was also the film's cinematographer. Rasmus Breistein directed the film, and it was distributed by Kommunenes Filmcentral. Plot As autumn storms are blowing in over the island of Fagerøy, the priest's wife Else Margrete and her child die in childbirth. During the storm, a ship is also wrecked off the island, and the only survivor is a three-month-old boy. Tirich Mir
Tirich Mir (also spelled Terich Mir, Terichmir and Turch Mir) is the highest mountain of the Hindu Kush range, and the highest mountain in the world outside of the Himalayas–Karakoram range, at above sea level. It is located in the Chitral District of Khyber Pakhtunkhwa, Pakistan. The first recorded ascent of the mountain was on 21 July 1950 by a Norwegian expedition consisting of Arne Næss, P.
