Rashid Masharawi
Rashid Masharawi (also: "Rashid Mashrawi") ( ar, رشيد مشهراوي) is a Palestinian film director, born in Gaza in 1962 to a family of refugees from Jaffa. He grew up in the Shati refugee camp. Rashid Masharawi lives and works in Ramallah, where he founded the Cinema Production and Distribution Center in 1996 with the aim of promoting local film productions. He also sponsors a mobile cinema, which allows him to screen films in Palestinian refugee camps. Other projects include the annual Kids Film Festival and major workshops on film production and directing. Rashid Masharawi regularly organises readings and discussion forums at the Al-Matal cultural centre. Through his documentaries and feature films, he has made a name for himself as a film artist and has received several film awards. Monique Roffey
Monique Roffey (born 1965) is a Trinidadian-born British writer and memoirist. Her novels have been much acclaimed, winning awards including the 2013 OCM Bocas Prize for Caribbean Literature, for ''Archipelago'', and the Costa Book of the Year award, for '' The Mermaid of Black Conch'' in 2021. Biography Born in Port of Spain, Trinidad, in 1965, to an English father and mother of French, Italian, Maltese and Lebanese descent. Zadok "Duki” Dror ( he, דוקי (צדוק) דרור), (born 1963) is an independent Israeli filmmaker whose films explore issues of migration, identity and displacement. Biography Zadok (Duki) Dror was born in Tel Aviv. In the early 1950s, Dror's parents fled from their native Iraq for the newly established state of Israel. When Dror's father was 17 he was arrested on charges of political activism and served five years in prison as a political prisoner. Upon his release, he was not allowed to stay in Iraq. After moving to Israel, the family changed their Arabic name, Darwish (Arabic for "wandering") to Dror (Hebrew for "freedom"). Dror studied in the United States at UCLA and is a graduate of Columbia College Chicago.
