Raseborg Sub-region
Raseborg sub-region is a subdivision of Uusimaa and one of the Sub-regions of Finland since 2009. The main tourist attraction of the region, but also one of the Top 10 Visitors Attractions in Finland is the Raseborg Castle (Raaseporin Linna). It is supposed that the castle was built by the royal council leader of Magnus IV of Sweden in 1370, besides to have sustained continuous developments up to the 16th century. Raseborg Castle was designed to defend the then Swedish territory of Southern Finland. It would also go on to be the focal point of clashes with the Danes as well as pirates. The time being, visitors to Raseborg Castle can look at its restored outer wall as well as its other ruins, such as wooden barrier which in the past encircled the castle, stopping entrance to the harbour to foreign ships. Finland is divided into 69 sub-regional units ( fi, seutukunta, sv, ekonomisk region). The sub-regions are formed by groups of municipalities within the 19 regions of Finland. The sub-regions represent a LAU 1 level of division used in conjunction with the Nomenclature of Territorial Units for Statistics. 2018 Finnish Presidential Election
Presidential elections were held in Finland on 28 January 2018. The incumbent Sauli Niinistö received 62.7% of the vote and was elected for a second term, avoiding a Two-round system, second round. The term is from 1 March 2018 to 1 February 2024 (if 2024 presidential election doesn't go to a second ballot) or 1 March 2024. Although the President is elected by direct election, Niinistö gained a plurality in all Municipalities of Finland, municipalities and a majority in all but 13 municipalities. Merja Kyllönen
Merja Kyllönen (born 25 January 1977) is a Finnish politician and Member of the European Parliament (MEP) from Finland. She is a member of the Left Alliance, part of the European United Left–Nordic Green Left. She was the Minister of Transport in Katainen Cabinet 2011–2014. Since 2014, she has been a Member of the European Parliament (MEP), representing Finland. In 2018, Kyllönen was the candidate of the Left Alliance in the Finnish presidential election. Paavo Väyrynen
Paavo Matti Väyrynen (born 2 September 1946) is a Finnish politician and former member of the Finnish Parliament who has represented the Seven Star Movement, the Citizen's Party and Centre Party. He is currently member of Centre Party. Väyrynen has been a member of the Finnish Parliament previously from 1970 to 1995, and again from 2007 to 2011 and has held many ministerial portfolios. He has also been a Member of the European Parliament from 1995 to 2007, and again from 2014 to 2018. Laura Huhtasaari
Laura Huhtasaari (born 30 March 1979) is a Finnish politician, businesswoman and teacher. As a member of the Finns Party, she has represented Satakunta in the Parliament of Finland from April 2015 to July 2019. She was the Finns Party candidate for the 2018 Finnish presidential election. Tuula Haatainen
Tuula Irmeli Haatainen (born 11 February 1960) is a Finnish politician and a member of the Finnish Parliament, with the Social Democratic Party. She was the Minister of Education 2003–2005 and the Minister of Social Affairs and Health 2005–2007. In 2007 Haatainen was chosen as the Deputy Mayor of Helsinki and she left the parliament. She returned to the parliament following the 2015 elections, in which she received 6,662 personal votes. Nils Ole Hilmer Torvalds (born 7 August 1945) is a Finnish politician who has been a Member of the European Parliament (MEP) since 2012. Pekka Olavi Haavisto (born 23 March 1958) is a Finnish politician of the Green League who has been serving as the Minister for Foreign Affairs since 2019. Haavisto returned to the Finnish Parliament in the Finnish parliamentary election of March 2007 after an absence of 12 years and was re-elected in 2011, 2015, and 2019. Between April 1995 and April 1999 he was the Minister of Environment in the Lipponen I Cabinet. Sauli Väinämö Niinistö (; born 24 August 1948) is a Finnish politician who has served as president of Finland since March 2012, the 12th person to hold that office. A lawyer by education, Niinistö was Chairman of the National Coalition Party (NCP) from 1994 to 2001, Minister of Justice from 1995 to 1996, Minister of Finance from 1996 to 2003, Deputy Prime Minister from 1995 to 2001 and the NCP candidate in the 2006 presidential election. Raseborg
Raseborg ( fi, Raasepori) is a town (administrative area) and municipality of Finland. It was created on January 1, 2009, when the municipalities of Ekenäs, Karis and Pohja were consolidated into a single town. Of these, Ekenäs now serves as the administrative center of Raseborg. The town has a population of () and covers an area of of which is water. The population density is . The name of the new town is based on the Castle of Raseborg located in Ekenäs, or formerly in the municipality of ''Snappertuna''. Ingå (; fi, Inkoo) is a municipality of Finland. Ingå is located in the province of Southern Finland and is part of the Uusimaa region. The municipality has a population of () and covers an area of of which is water. The population density is . The municipality is bilingual, with majority being Swedish and minority Finnish speakers. Finnish national road 51 goes right through the southern part of Ingå. The centre consists mainly of the road ''Bollstavägen'' that cuts through the Ingå centrum.
