Rasa (band)
Rasa are a musical duo that perform bhajan (Indian devotional music) and Western derivations. Hans Christian is a German-born cellist and multi-instrumentalist. Kim Waters is an American vocalist and devotee of A. C. Bhaktivedanta Swami Prabhupada. Christian and Waters formed Rasa in 1998, in San Francisco, California. Hearts of Space Records published Rasa's first three albums: ''Devotion'' (2000), ''Union'' (2001), and ''Rasa in Concert'' (2002). Since then, the band has released three additional studio albums through New Earth Records. Their fifth album, ''Temple of Love'' (2006), is a tribute to the Khajuraho Group of Monuments. Saffron () is a spice derived from the flower of ''Crocus sativus'', commonly known as the "saffron crocus". The vivid crimson stigma and styles, called threads, are collected and dried for use mainly as a seasoning and colouring agent in food. Although some doubts remain on its origin, it is believed that saffron originated in Iran. However, Greece and Mesopotamia have also been suggested as the possible region of origin of this plant. The Khajuraho Group of Monuments are a group of Hindu and Jain temples in Chhatarpur district, Madhya Pradesh, India, about 175 kilometres southeast of Jhansi. They are a UNESCO World Heritage Site. The temples are famous for their nagara-style architectural symbolism and a few erotic sculptures. Most Khajuraho temples were built between 885 AD and 1000 AD by the Chandela dynasty. New Earth Records
New Earth Records is an independent record label focusing primarily on new age and world music, with offices in Boulder, Colorado and Ashland, Oregon. It was founded in 1990 in Munich, Germany, by European entrepreneurs Bhikkhu Schober and Waduda Paradiso. Initially called Tao Music, Schober and Paradiso opted to change the name to New Earth Records. Kim Waters (born March 20, 1965) is an American jazz artist born in Havre de Grace, Maryland. Early life Waters grew up in Harford County, Maryland. Waters learned how to play the saxophone at a young age. He attended C. Milton Wright High School. He played on the basketball team and was a shooting guard.
