''The Rarities'' is the eighth compilation album by American singer-songwriter Mariah Carey, released on October 2, 2020, by Columbia and Legacy Recordings. It is a part of "#MC30", a promotional campaign marking the 30th anniversary of Carey's self-titled debut studio album, '' Mariah Carey'' (1990), and coincides with her memoir '' The Meaning of Mariah Carey'' (2020). Featuring previously unreleased material "with personal relevance and meaning" to Carey—some of which are discussed in her memoir—the album also includes a second disc consisting of audio from her March 7, 1996, live performance at the Tokyo Dome during her Daydream World Tour. A Blu-ray disc featuring enhanced video footage from the concert was released exclusively in Japan. ''Rarities'' is the first compilation album by American alternative rock/post-grunge music group Smile Empty Soul. The album has two different versions; 1 digital copy containing eight songs or one CD edition copy containing 13 songs. The album consists of five songs never before released, a handful of others that were only ever leaked out online, two soundtrack songs, a live acoustic version of an old song, and one re-record. The first was released in the United Kingdom in December 1978, while the second album was issued in the United States in March 1980. 1978 UK album ''Rarities'' is a British compilation album featuring a selection of songs by the Beatles. The album was originally released as part of ''The Beatles Collection'', a box set featuring all other Beatles records, but was later issued individually. Rarities 1979-1981
''Rarities 1979–1981'' was the digital release by the Southern Californian punk rock band Cardiac Kidz of the vinyl LP released by Rave-Up records in 2009. This album, contains the 14 tracks from the vinyl LP plus unreleased tracks from the 1979 Spirit Night Club show in which the EP "Playground" showcased 4 tracks in the 1979 release. The CD also contains studio recordings that couldn't fit on the vinyl LP record. The Cardiac Kidz showcased their ability to cross music genres by producing music that treads over both punk rock, and new wave. ''Rarities Volume I & Volume II'' is a two-album series collecting songs by The Who, released in 1983 on Polydor in the United Kingdom. Release history The first release in this series was a single LP titled ''"Join Together - Rarities"'' issued by Polydor in Australia and New Zealand in 1982. This album contained Who songs from UK singles released between 1970 and 1973 that had not previously appeared on LP. It included a version of the B-side "I Don't Even Know Myself" that fades out about 30 seconds early, while eliminating the full ending heard on the single. In 1983, after the announcement of the '' Who's Last'' Tour, Polydor UK expanded on the original concept by compiling two separate albums of hard to find Who tracks. ''Rarities Volumes 1 & 2'' is a 2014 posthumous double-CD compilation album of various pieces by English experimental musician and composer Lindsay Cooper. It was recorded between 1979 and 1992, and released in the UK and US by RēR Megacorp in 2014. The compilation was also released by ReR Megacorp in Japan in 2015. ''Rarities'' was compiled by Udi Koomran and Chris Cutler in Cooper's honour. It comprises unreleased material, and tracks that had previously appeared only on limited edition releases and compilations. Background Cooper died of multiple sclerosis in 2013. She had been diagnosed in 1987, but did not reveal her illness until the late-1990s. Three memorial concerts took place for Cooper in November 2014 in London, West Yorkshire, and Forlì, Italy.
