Rare (Hundredth Album)
''Rare'' (stylized as RARE) is the fourth studio album by American band Hundredth, released on June 16, 2017 on Hopeless Records. The album marks a dramatic departure in the band's sound from the melodic hardcore sound the band was known for since their formation, in favor of a more mellowed-down alt. rock/shoegaze sound, influenced by classic new wave and post-punk acts such as Joy Division and The Smiths, claiming that the current sound was music the band wanted to write and listen to. The album was produced by Sam Pura, who has previously worked with The Story So Far and Forever Came Calling. On April 26, 2017, the band released the first single off the album – "Neurotic", the band's first new music after changing their musical style. This was followed by the second single "Youth" on May 11, 2017. On May 18, 2017, the band premiered "Suffer" and on May 31, 2017, another new song "Hole" was released. Hundredth is an American rock band from Myrtle Beach, South Carolina formed in 2008 led by singer and songwriter Chadwick Johnson. They have released five albums and five EPs. The band started out playing melodic hardcore that morphed into indie rock by the release of the 2017 album ''Rare''. History ''When Will We Surrender,'' ''Let Go,'' and ''Revolt/Resist'' (2008–2014) Hundredth formed in 2008 in Myrtle Beach from a previous outfit called the Hundredth. After self-releasing the EP ''Dusk,'' the band started playing the live-circuit. Their debut record '' When Will We Surrender'' was released by Mediaskare Records on March 30, 2010. The first single from that album was "Desolate", and a music video was released on YouTube on March 18, 2010. Hardcore punk (also known as simply hardcore) is a punk rock music genre and subculture that originated in the late 1970s. Swervedriver are an English alternative rock band formed in Oxford in 1989 around core members Adam Franklin and Jimmy Hartridge. Between 1989 and 1998, the band released four studio albums and numerous EPs and singles despite a considerable flux of members, managers, and record labels. By 1993 the band's lineup had settled with Franklin on vocals/guitar, Hartridge on guitar, Jez Hindmarsh on drums, and Steve George on bass.
