Raphael Ohin
Raphael Ohin (born 25 May 1995) is a Ghanaian professional footballer who plays for Canadian Premier League club Valour FC as a midfielder. Early life Ohin is a native of Accra, Ghana. From 2008 to 2010, he played for an academy team in his native Ghana. When he was 15, he attracted the attention of a scout for Swiss club FC Basel and was invited to a week-long trial with the club. He impressed the club and was working on signing a professional academy contract, but ultimately was unable to. Afterwards, he had a trial with German side Borussia Mönchengladbach, but again after impressing during his trial was unable to sign with the club. Afterwards, he went to trial with a club in Thailand, who kept him for four months, but were not willing to pay him the desired amount his agent was asking for and he returned to Ghana. The 2023 Valour FC season was the fifth season in the history of Valour FC. They played in the Canadian Premier League, which it co-founded and played in since the inception of both the club and the league. The club entered the Canadian Championship in the preliminary round. Background In Valour's preceding four seasons, it never reached the play-offs, for which the top-four qualified in those seasons. The club ended in sixth place in the first two seasons and fifth place in the 2021 and 2022 seasons, missing the play-offs by one and nine points, respectively. 2021 Valour FC Season
The 2021 Valour FC season was the third season in the club's history, as well as the third season in Canadian Premier League history. Overview Due to the Covid-19 pandemic, the 2021 Canadian Premier League season began in a bubble in Winnipeg, giving Valour FC home field advantage for the first 8 games of the season. During this time Valour started off strong, reaching the top of the table. Crucial to Valour's success in this stretch was the play of Haitian defender Andrew Jean-Baptiste. Loanee goalkeeper Jonathan Sirois also had a league record-breaking start to the season. However, after playing seven games Jean-Baptiste suffered a season-ending injury. After Jean-Baptiste was injured and the league left the bubble, Valour's season took a sharp downard turn, winning only one match in 10 games. USL League Two (USL2), formerly the Premier Development League (PDL), is a semi-professional developmental soccer league sponsored by United Soccer Leagues in the United States and Canada, forming part of the United States soccer league system. The league features 113 teams for 2022, split into sixteen regional divisions across four conferences. USL League Two is headquartered in Tampa, Florida.
