Rangitoto Range
Rangitoto Range is in the Pureora Forest Park in the North Island of New Zealand. Its main peaks are Ranginui (), Mt Baldy (855 m) and Rangitoto (873 m). It has the headwaters of the Waipā, Puniu and Mokau Rivers and forms the eastern boundary of the King Country. Streams on the eastern slopes drain into the Waikato River. Conservation The ranges have the last area of native forest to be opened for logging. After protests and occupations some areas of tōtara and rewarewa native forests were preserved and logged areas are being restored. Endangered species present include North Island kōkako, kākā, falcon, North Island brown kiwi, blue duck, bats and Hochstetter's frog. Waikato () is a Regions of New Zealand, local government region of the upper North Island of New Zealand. New Zealand Long-tailed Bat
The New Zealand long-tailed bat (''Chalinolobus tuberculatus''), also known as the long-tailed wattled bat or pekapeka-tou-roa (Māori), is one of 15 species of bats in the genus ''Chalinolobus'' variously known as "pied bats", "wattled bats" or "long-tailed bats". The Quaternary ( ) is the current and most recent of the three periods of the Cenozoic Era in the geologic time scale of the International Commission on Stratigraphy (ICS). Conglomerate () is a clastic sedimentary rock that is composed of a substantial fraction of rounded to subangular gravel-size clasts. Siltstone, also known as aleurolite, is a clastic sedimentary rock that is composed mostly of silt. In geology, interbedding occurs when beds (layers of rock) of a particular lithology lie between or alternate with beds of a different lithology. For example, sedimentary rocks may be interbedded if there were sea level variations in their sedimentary depositional environment. Intercalation is a special case of interbedding where a layer is variably inserted into an already existing sequence; or where two separate depositional environments in close spatial proximity migrate alternately across the contact. Greywacke
Greywacke or graywacke (German ''grauwacke'', signifying a grey, earthy rock) is a variety of sandstone generally characterized by its hardness, dark color, and poorly sorted angular grains of quartz, feldspar, and small rock fragments or lithic fragments set in a compact, clay-fine matrix.
