Range Beyond The Blue
''Range Beyond the Blue'' is a 1947 American Western film directed by Ray Taylor and written by Patricia Harper. The film stars Eddie Dean, Roscoe Ates,Helen Mowery, Bob Duncan, Ted Adams and Billy Hammond. The film was released on March 17, 1947, by Producers Releasing Corporation. Plot Outlaws are robbing a stage line, owned and operated by Margie Rodgers (Helen Mowery), whenever it carries gold. They aim to drive the value of the stage coach line down, then buy it cheaply through a front, and sell it for the true market price. Their plan is derailed by Eddie Dean and Soapy Jones (Roscoe Ates) who breakup one of the assaults. Eddie has Soapy take over the local sheriff's office when the sheriff is wounded. They battle the outlaw gang, and after some musical interludes, eventually break it up and expose the criminal plot. Raymond Edgar Taylor (1 December 1888 – 15 February 1952) was an American film director. He directed 159 films between 1926 in film, 1926 and 1949 in film, 1949. His List of directorial debuts, debut was the 1926 film serial ''Fighting with Buffalo Bill''. Ray Taylor was one of the few Hollywood directors who specialized in a single type of film: he was an action specialist. Many action directors would be called upon at one time or another to helm a mainstream drama, romance, or mystery, but Ray Taylor established himself early in westerns and action fare, and he worked in this capacity throughout his career. Even a brief tenure directing the campus-capers "Collegians" shorts for Universal Pictures, Universal was appropriate for Taylor, as these two-reel subjects often emphasized visual action. Patricia Harper (born Frances Persotia Harper, February 21, 1908, date of death unknown) was an American screenwriter and actress who wrote B-Westerns in the 1930s and 1940s. Biography Origins A native of Indiana, Harper was born to Thaddeus S. Harper and Eunice Bennett in 1908. She was raised primarily in Oklahoma City, where she met and married Gordon Eskridge in 1927. The pair had a son and divorced less than two years later. Hollywood career Patricia's parents raised her son while she attended art school and moved further west to seek work as a writer and actress. Soon after arriving in Hollywood, she appeared in a string of smaller roles, but more importantly, she forged a promising career for herself as a screenwriter. Producers Releasing Corporation was the smallest and least prestigious of the Hollywood film studios of the 1940s. It was considered a prime example of what was called "Poverty Row": a low-rent stretch of Gower Street in Hollywood where shoestring film producers based their operations. However, PRC was more substantial than the usual independent company that made only a few low-budget movies and then disappeared. PRC was an actual Hollywood studio -- albeit the smallest -- with its own production facilities and distribution network, and it even accepted imports from the UK. PRC lasted from 1939 to 1947, churning out low-budget B movies for the lower half of a double bill or the upper half of a neighborhood theater showing second-run films.
