''Rangamati'' ( bn, রাঙামাটি) is a Bengali movie was released in 2008. Directed by Kanoj Das, the movie featured Amitabh Bhattacharjee, Sreela Majumdar, Soumitra Chatterjee, Pratim Chattopadhyay and Kunal Mitra. Plot The story of the movie revolves around a village named Simulpur, which is entirely submerged into superstition and corruption. The village head or Morol Moshai Harimohan babu (Soumitra CHatterjee) is a corrupted, power centric and pervert person. In order to capture the lands of the villagers he implies a different plan, he announces that the family practices witchcraft with the help of a "gunin" and either kills them or force them out of village. The villagers solely believe in witches, ghosts and spirits. In that village lives Babulal (Amitabha Bhattacharya) who loves his wife Parul (Sangeeta) extremely. Kanoj Das
Kanoj, formerly known as Ra Kanoj, was a town destroyed whose ruins are stretched for a mile. They are located in Lakhpat Taluka of Kutch district of Gujarat, India. History On the north bank of the Kinnar river, the town stretches in ruined heaps for about a mile. Among the ruins are indistinct traces of an old fort and of the line of the city walls. The town would seem to have been destroyed by Muslim invaders, but of its date nothing is known. About five miles south-west of Ra Kanoj is the tomb of Kasim, who according to the local story, took and destroyed the city. Kasim is said to have sent as a prize to his sovereign the king of Ghazni, two of the chief's daughters. At Ghazni they were treated with every kindness, but refused to be comforted, saying, that while they were under his charge, Kasim had violated them. Amitabh Bhattacharjee (born 15 August 1973) is an Indian actor who works in Bengali and Hindi films. He was born and brought up in Delhi. Sreela Majumdar (also credited as Srila Mazumdar) is an actress in the Bengali language film industry of India. She has done voice dubbing for Aishwarya Rai in the film '' Chokher Bali'' (2003).
