Randi
Randi is both a given name, and a nickname in the English language, popular in North America and Norway. It is primarily a feminine name, although there is recorded usage of the name by men. It may have originated as a pet form of '' Miranda'' or as a feminine form of '' Randy''. In turn, Randy was originally derived from the names '' Randall'', '' Randolf'', '' Randolph'', ''Bertrand'' and ''Andrew''. In Norway, Randi is a feminine name that emerged in the 1400s as a short form of Ragnfrid ( on, Ragnfríðr). The original meaning in Old Norse is "God-lovable". Ragnfríðr was famously used about three different people in runic inscriptions from the Viking era. Later the variant Rangdid was common in the Middle Ages. Randi Blehr
Randi Marie Blehr (née Nilsen; 12 February 1851 – 13 June 1928) was a Norwegian feminist, liberal politician, suffragist, peace activist and women's rights activist. She was married to Prime Minister of Norway Otto Blehr, and was therefore addressed as "Madam Prime Minister" ( no, Statsministerinde) during her lifetime. She was one of the preeminent leaders of the Norwegian women's rights movement from the 1880s and co-counded the Norwegian Association for Women's Rights, serving as its President from 1895 to 1899 and from 1903 to 1922. She also initiated the establishment of the Norwegian Women's Public Health Association that grew to become a humanitarian organisation with 250,000 members. She was a leading advocate of Norwegian independence from Sweden and took on representative duties for Norway during her husband's tenure as Prime Minister. Randi Altschul
Randice-Lisa "Randi" Altschul (born 1960) is an American toy developer and inventor based in Cliffside Park, New Jersey. With little technical training or engineering knowledge, she developed toys and board games that saw great success. As a result, she became a millionaire by the age of 26. Her board game Miami Vice, inspired by the television series of the same name, would be further developed into Grand Theft Auto: Vice City by Rockstar North, which went on to become one of the best-selling games in 2002. After her success in the toy industry, Altschul founded Diceland Technologies and invented the first disposable phone. Randi Brænne (26 May 1911 – 1 June 2004) was a Norwegian actress. She was born in Kristiania (now Oslo), Norway. She was a daughter of Sigmund Brænne and Bodil Winge and was a sister of actress and writer Berit Brænne (1918–1976). Randi Brænne was married to two acting colleagues; Frithjof Fearnley (1896–1971) and Frank Robert (1918–2007). She made her stage debut at Det Nye Teater in 1934. She performed at various theatres including Den Nationale Scene, Trøndelag Teater, Centralteatret, Riksteatret and Seniorteatret.
