Randhir Singh (academic)
Randhir Singh (2 January 1922 – 31 January 2016) was a Marxist scholar, political theorist and teacher from India. His native village was Manuke in present-day Moga district of Punjab, India. However, he was brought up in Lahore where his father was working as a doctor. He is known as one of the founders of the student movement in the country in the 1930s and a freedom fighter who remained in jail during India's freedom movement in the 1940s. Most of the period he taught at Delhi University. Although he was a teacher of political science, students from other subjects also used to attend his class and listen to Singh, even standing outside classroom premises or around windows as his classroom was always full. He retired as Professor from Delhi University in 1987. His death has got attention of some of the world leaders like Baburam Bhattarai who called Singh a great scholar of the present time. Punjabi University is a collegiate state public university located in Patiala, Punjab, India. It was established on 30 April 1962 and is only the second university in the world to be named after a language, after Hebrew University of Israel. Originally it was conceived as a unitary multi-faculty teaching and research university, primarily meant for the development and enrichment of the Punjabi language and culture, but alive to the social and education requirements of the state. Manuke
Manuke is a village on Guru Gobind Singh Marg (highway) in district Ludhiana, state of Punjab, India. It is one of the largest village in Jagraon block. The world-famous Gurdwara Mehdiana Sahib is situated outside the village on the west. The village is populated mostly by Sandhu families. It has two main Gurdwara's, Shivdwala, and a Maseet. One of the Gurdwaras, Patshahi Dasvee, is believed to have been visited by Guru Gobind Singh himself. The village has built a state of the art modern funeral home. Moga District
Moga district is one of the twenty-two districts in the state of Punjab, India. It became the 17th district of Punjab State on 24 November 1995 cut from Faridkot district. Moga District is among the largest producers of wheat and rice in Punjab, India. People from Moga City and Moga District belong to the Malwa culture. Numerous attempts were previously made to make Moga a district but all were unsuccessful. Finally, the then Chief Minister of Punjab S. Baburam Bhattarai ( ne, बाबुराम भट्टराई, ; born 18 June 1954), also known by his nom de guerre Laaldhwoj, is a Nepalese politician and former Prime Minister, who presently serves as leader of the Nepal Socialist Party.
