Rancho Deluxe (soundtrack)
''Rancho Deluxe'' is the soundtrack from the film ''Rancho Deluxe'' starring Jeff Bridges and Sam Waterston. It is the sixth album by American singer-songwriter Jimmy Buffett. It was initially released in 1975 as United Artists Records UA 466G and later re-released on labels licensed by Metro-Goldwyn-Mayer (who owns the soundtrack's rights) including Capitol and Rykodisc. Alternative versions The 1998 Rykodisc re-release of ''Rancho Deluxe'' includes four tracks of movie dialogue that were not present on the original soundtrack. Songs The soundtrack album contains songs and instrumental incidental music, all written by Buffett. "Wonder Why We Ever Go Home" and "Livingston Saturday Night" were subsequently re-recorded by Buffett and released on ''Changes in Latitudes, Changes in Attitudes'' and ''Son of a Son of a Sailor'' respectively. James William Buffett (born December 25, 1946) is an American singer-songwriter, musician, author, and businessman. He is best known for his music, which often portrays an "island escapism" lifestyle. Michael Utley
Michael Edward Utley is an American musician, songwriter, and record producer for Jimmy Buffett's Coral Reefer Band. He is the musical director of the band. Born in Blytheville in Mississippi County, Arkansas, he graduated from the University of Arkansas where he was initiated into the Sigma Chi Fraternity. He was recognized by Sigma Chi as a Significant Sig in 2017. Early in his career, Utley worked with the house band for Atlantic Records in Miami, Florida's Criteria Studios backing performers such as Aretha Franklin, Jerry Jeff Walker, and the Allman Brothers and in California playing with Rita Coolidge and Kris Kristofferson. Jerry Jeff Walker recruited Utley to play keyboard instruments on Buffett's first major label album, ''A White Sport Coat and a Pink Crustacean'', in 1973. Reggie Grimes Young Jr. (December 12, 1936 – January 17, 2019) was an American musician who was lead guitarist in the American Sound Studio house band, The Memphis Boys, and was a leading session musician. Greg "Fingers" Taylor (born June 3, 1952) is an American harmonica player, best known for his work with Jimmy Buffett's Coral Reefer Band. Career Greg Taylor was born in Wichita, Kansas, June 3, 1952 where he attended Wichita North High School. Taylor and Buffett met in 1970 when Taylor was a student at The University of Southern Mississippi. Soon after the two met, Taylor joined Larry Raspberry and The Highsteppers. In 1974, Buffett called Taylor to ask him to join the first official Coral Reefer Band. Taylor continued to play in the band until 2000. Jimmy Buffett was booked to open for the Association at Arkansas State University in the Fall of 1972. Fingers Taylor appeared with JB that night. They were well received by the crowd. Sammy Lee Creason (27 November 1944 – 21 December 1995) was an American session drummer who played with Tony Joe White, Kris Kristofferson and Bob Dylan amongst others. Life and career Growing up in Jonesboro, Arkansas, United States, he learned to play in a blooming music scene that included Joe Lee, Larry Donn, Billy Lee Riley, Bob Tucker, Sonny Burgess and Carl Perkins. He first started playing with ''Ray Coble and the JazzKatz'' in 1958, standing in for his brother Gary, who had broken his foot. Thomas Clark Cogbill (April 8, 1932 – December 7, 1982) was an American bassist, guitarist and record producer known for his work in R&B, soul and country music. Life and career Cogbill was born in Johnson Grove, Tennessee. He was a highly sought-after session and studio musician who appeared on many now-classic recordings of the 1960s and 1970s, especially those recorded in Nashville, Memphis and Muscle Shoals. He has been credited as an influence by many bass guitarists, including Jerry Jemmott & Jaco Pastorius.
