Ranchi Rhinos (abbreviated as RR) was a field hockey team based in Ranchi, Jharkhand that played in the Hockey India League. The team won the inaugural season of Hockey India League defeating Delhi Waveriders by 2-1. It is owned by Patel-Uniexcel Group. South African Gregg Clark is the head coach for the team assisted by Olympian Baljit Singh Saini. German midfielder, two time Olympic champion, Moritz Fürste is the captain of the team. It was dissolved in 2014 after its owners had some dispute with HIL management. It has been replaced by Ranchi Rays. Franchise Details Coaching Staff South African Gregg Clark serves as the head coach for the team who is assisted by Olympian Baljit Singh Saini. Moritz Fürste
Moritz Fürste (born 28 October 1984) is a German field hockey player. He was a member of the Men's National Team that won the gold medal at the 2008 Summer Olympics and 2012 Summer Olympics as well as at the 2006 World Cup. He played at the Uhlenhorster Hockey Club in Hamburg from 1989 till 2012. He was captain of the team. He has guided his team to success in the Euro Hockey League on three occasions, winning the title in 2007–08, 2009–10 and 2011–12. Fürste also helped his team to a second-place finish in the competition in the 2008–09 Season, when they were defeated by HC Bloemendaal of The Netherlands. Since 2012 he is playing at Spanish Club de Campo Villa de Madrid. After retiring after season 2018-2019 he just signed a new deal with Royal Beerschot THC in Belgium for 1 season. Ashley Jackson (field Hockey)
Ashley Steven Jackson (born 27 August 1987) is an English field hockey player who plays club hockey as a defender or midfielder for Old Georgians'. He represented the England and Great Britain national teams from 2006 until 2021. In December 2014 Jackson began playing ice hockey for Invicta Dynamos, scoring a goal on his debut against London Raiders. In June 2017, together with his brother, Wesley Jackson, he founded Jackson coaching. Club career Jackson plays club hockey in the Men's England Hockey League Premier Division for Old Georgians', whom he joined in 2019. The 2014 Hockey India League (known as the Hero Hockey India League for sponsorship reasons), abbreviated as HIL 2014, is the second season of the professional field hockey tournament, Hockey India League. The tournament begun on 25 January 2014 with the final on 23 February 2014. The season will see the addition of one new franchise, Kalinga Lancers, making a total of six franchises in the league. Delhi Waveriders won this year title after finishing the second last year. 2013 Hockey India League, known as Hero Hockey India League and abbreviated as HIL 2013 was the first season of the field hockey tournament Hockey India League. Tournament was scheduled to start from 5 January to 3 February but was postponed to 14 January to 10 February. Rules and regulations Five teams took part in the tournament and each team played three matches against each team, one at their home venue and one at the venue of the opposition team. Justin Reid-Ross
Justin Reid-Ross (born 16 July 1986) is a retired South African field hockey player who played as a defender for the South African national team. At the 2012 Summer Olympics, he competed for the national team in the men's tournament. He played a total of 97 caps for the national team from 2006 to 2014. Club career Reid-Ross came to the Netherlands in 2010 to play for Pinoké. After four seasons he left Pinoké for Amsterdam. In the 2014–15 season he became the top scorer in the Dutch Hoofdklasse. Khadangbam Kothajit Singh (born 17 August 1992) is an India field hockey player who plays as a defender or midfielder for the Indian national team. He represented India in Men's Hockey during the 2012 London Olympics. He is the third hockey Olympian - after Pangambam Nilakomol Singh and Ksh. Thoiba - from the state of Manipur, known for producing a disproportionate number of international-standard sportspersons. He was a member of the silver-medal winning Indian team at the 2014 Commonwealth Games in Glasgow, Scotland.
