Ran Banda Seneviratne
Ran Banda Seneviratne ( si, රන් බණ්ඩා සෙනෙවිරත්න; died 5 December 2001) was a Sri Lankan lawyer, author, lyricist, television and radio presenter. Early life Ran Banda was born in the remote village of Maradankalla near Mihintale, in the Anuradhapura District. His father was a teacher and an ayurvedic healer known as Wannihamy. The idiomatic usage of language evident in his mature writing and speeches stand witness to the fact that he never lost touch with his village heritage. He sometimes called himself a ''Bayya'' (Hillbilly) from Mihintale and did so with a great sense of pride. Mature Years After qualifying as an attorney-at-law he practiced in Hultsdorf, Colombo. The Sri Lanka Rūpavāhinī Corporation ( si, ශ්රී ලංකා රූපවාහිනී සංස්ථාව; ta, இலங்கை ரூபவாகினி கூட்டுத்தாபனம்), also known as Jathika Rupavahini (lit. Senadheerage Amarasiri Peiris ( Sinhala:අමරසිරි පීරිස්: born 21 July 1946) is a Sri Lankan singer. One of the most honored singers of Sri Lanka, Peiris is a well known violinist and a vocalist. Personal life He was born on 21 July 1946 in Boralesgamuwa as the eldest of the family. His father Albert Peiris was a classical artiste at Radio Ceylon popular in 1940s.
