Diving is the sport of jumping or falling into water from a platform or springboard, usually while performing acrobatics. Diving is an internationally recognized sport that is part of the Olympic Games. In addition, unstructured and non-competitive diving is a recreational pastime. The women's 10 metre platform, also reported as ''platform diving'', was one of four diving events on the Diving at the 1980 Summer Olympics programme. The competition was split into two phases: #''Preliminary round'' (25 July) #:Divers performed eight dives.
