Rammstein Albums
Rammstein (, "ramming stone") is a German Neue Deutsche Härte band formed in Berlin in 1994. The band's lineup—consisting of lead vocalist Till Lindemann, lead guitarist Richard Kruspe, rhythm guitarist Paul Landers, bassist Oliver Riedel, drummer Christoph Schneider, and keyboardist Christian "Flake" Lorenz—has remained unchanged throughout their history, along with their approach to songwriting, which consists of Lindemann writing and singing the lyrics over instrumental pieces the rest of the band has completed beforehand. Prior to their formation, some members were associated with the punk rock acts Feeling B and First Arsch. After winning a local contest, Rammstein was able to record demos and send them to different record labels, eventually signing with Motor Music. Oliver Riedel
Oliver "Ollie" Riedel (born 11 April 1971) is a German musician, best known as the bassist for Neue Deutsche Härte band Rammstein. Early life Riedel was born in Schwerin on 11 April 1971. Growing up, he had relatively good relationships with both of his parents. He attributes this to the small gap between their ages. As a child, he was not a good student, but he made his way through school with the assistance of his mother. Riedel was quite shy, especially during his teenage years; while his friends partied, he would often be found just "hanging around". Career In 1990, at the age of 19, Riedel began playing in a Folk music, folk/Punk rock, punk band called the Inchtabokatables. In 1994, Riedel, Till Lindemann, Richard Kruspe, and Christoph Schneider entered and won the Berlin Senate Metro beat contest that allowed them to record a four-track demo professionally. A demo (shortened from "demonstration") is a song or group of songs typically recorded for limited circulation or for reference use, rather than for general public release. A demo is a way for a musician to approximate their ideas in a fixed format, such as cassette tape, compact disc, or digital audio files, and to thereby pass along those ideas to record labels, producers, or other artists. Benzin
"Benzin" (German, in English: Gasoline or Petrol) is a song by German industrial metal band Rammstein, released as the first single from their album ''Rosenrot''. In Germany, gasoline is called ''Benzin'' (which is derived from the chemical mixture benzine). The song uses the word "Gasolin", however the word does not exist in the German language, but it is an English word made German. There was, however, a German chain of gas stations called "Gasolin." Benzin was Rammstein's first number one single, getting to number one in Finland after its release in 2005. Music video In the video, Rammstein are firefighters. They have not had a call for a long time, and are thus very ill-equipped for dealing with an emergency. Rosenrot
''Rosenrot'' (, "Rose-Red") is the fifth studio album by German Neue Deutsche Härte band Rammstein, released on 28 October 2005. The album includes six songs artistically omitted from ''Reise, Reise''. The album's first title was ''Reise, Reise Volume Two'', but on 18 August 2005 the album was announced as ''Rosenrot''. The cover art is nearly identical to the Japanese import of ''Reise, Reise''. The image is a slightly altered photograph of the icebreaker USS ''Atka'', taken on 13 March 1960 at McMurdo Station, Ross Ice Shelf, Antarctica. While Rammstein did not actively promote the album, the band built anticipation through a variety of means. The first single from the album, "Benzin", premiered at the Berliner Wuhlheide and was subsequently released on disc. "Amerika" is a song by German Neue Deutsche Härte band Rammstein. It was released on 6 September 2004 as the second single from their fourth studio album, ''Reise, Reise'' (2004). The song peaked at number 2 in Germany and entered the top 5 in Austria, Denmark, and Switzerland. Content The song deals with the worldwide cultural and political imperialism of the United States of America. The song's text and most video images point unambiguously toward a critique of America's cultural imperialism, political propaganda and self-assumed role as global police force. The two verses are sung in German with a chorus in Denglisch: ''We're all living in Amerika, Amerika ist wunderbar, We're all living in Amerika, Amerika, Amerika'' and ''We're all living in Amerika, Coca-Cola, sometimes war''. "Mein Teil" (German for "My part" or "My share", slang for "My penis") is a song by German Neue Deutsche Härte band Rammstein. It was released as the lead single from their fourth studio album, '' Reise, Reise'' (2004), on 26 July 2004. "Mein Teil" attracted controversy in Germany; the media dubbed it "Das Kannibalenlied" ("The Cannibal-Song") due to its lyrics referring to the Armin Meiwes cannibalism case, which helped to boost it to second place in the German music charts after its release in early August 2004. It was also a number-one hit in Spain. Remixes of the song were done by Arthur Baker and Pet Shop Boys. ''Reise, Reise'' (; a German '' military wake-up call'', literally "(a)rise, (a)rise") is the fourth studio album by Neue Deutsche Härte band Rammstein. It was released on 27 September 2004 through Universal Music in Germany and followed shortly by its release across Europe. It was later released in North America through Republic Records on 16 November 2004. Recorded in a span of two years at El Cortijo Studios in Málaga, Spain, the album was produced by the band themselves along with Swedish record producer Jacob Hellner. The album charted in the top ten in several European charts and was a number one hit in Germany, Austria, Switzerland, Iceland, Finland, Estonia and Mexico. "Sonne" (German for "Sun") is a song by German Neue Deutsche Härte band Rammstein. It was released in February 2001, as the first single from their album '' Mutter''. According to Till Lindemann, the song was originally written as an entrance song for the boxer Vitali Klitschko, whose surname was also the working title of the song. The female vocal comes from Spectrasonic's "Symphony of Voices" sample library. ''Mutter'' (; English: "Mother") is the third studio album by German Neue Deutsche Härte band Rammstein. It was released on 2 April 2001 through Motor and Universal Music. The album's cover image is a photograph of a dead fetus, which was taken by Daniel & Geo Fuchs. The album has yielded six singles which, to date, are the most released from any Rammstein album. Writing and recording From September to December 1999, the band rented the house Weimar in Heiligendamm on the Baltic Sea for pre-production. The sound recordings took place in May and June 2000 at Studio Miraval in southern France. Already over Christmas 2000, Rammstein released the song "Links 2 3 4" on their website for download. In January 2001 the video was released, in February the single " Sonne". ''Live aus Berlin'' (, "Live from Berlin") is a recording of a concert by the German Neue Deutsche Härte band Rammstein, performed in 1998 and released a year later. It has appeared on numerous soundtracks for films, most notably '' The Matrix: Music from the Motion Picture'', ''How High'', and the home video ''CKY2K''. It is featured in the music video games ''Guitar Hero 5'' and ''Rock Band 3''. The song's title is a play on the homophones ''du hasst'' ("you hate") and ''du hast'' ("you have"). "Engel" (German for "Angel" or "Angels") is a song by German industrial metal band Rammstein. It was released in April 1997 as the first single from their second album, ''Sehnsucht''. The female part of song's chorus is sung by Christiane "Bobo" Hebold of the German pop band Bobo in White Wooden Houses. An English version of "Engel" can be found on US special editions of ''Sehnsucht''. According to an interview, keyboardist Christian Lorenz came up with the main riff for this song on a synthesizer along with a whistle melody.
