Ramiro Martinez (police Officer)
Ramiro "Ray" Martinez (born January 20, 1937) is a former Austin Police Department officer whose actions contributed to the ending of the University of Texas tower shootings when he, two other officers and a deputized civilian reached and killed sniper Charles Whitman on August 1, 1966. Early life Martinez was born in Kent County, Texas and graduated from Rotan (Texas) High School in 1956. He enrolled in the University of Texas at Austin, but dropped out for financial reasons. After three years as a combat medic in the United States Army, he joined the Austin Police Department, graduating from the police academy in 1961. Texas Tower Martinez was off duty on August 1, 1966, when he learned via television of the Texas Tower sniper shooting. Arriving at the campus, Martinez went to the top of the tower with civilian Allen Crum. Martinez dislodged a dolly used by Whitman to block the door that led to the observation deck of the Main Building tower at the University of Texas at Austin. ...

Ramiro Martínez (rugby Union)
Ramiro Martínez Frugoni (born 23 October 1970, in Buenos Aires) is an Argentine-born Italian rugby union player. He plays as a prop. Martínez played in San Isidro Club, from 1988/89 to 1998/99. He moved to Rugby Roma Olimpic, in 1999/2000, where he would play until 2001/2002. He won the Italian Championship in his first season with the team. He later would play two seasons at Benetton Rugby, Benetton Treviso (2002/03-2003/04), winning 2 Italian Championship titles. Martínez moved then to FC Grenoble, in France, for two more seasons. Returning to Italy, he played for Overmach Rugby Parma F.C. (2006/07) and Rugby Roma Olimpic (2007/08). He decided to return to his native Argentina, where he plays for San Isidro Club, since 2008/09. He was never capped for Argentina national rugby union team, Argentina and after becoming an Italian citizen, he would have 10 caps for Italy national rugby union team, Italy, from 2002 to 2003. Ramiro Martinez (August 23, 1923 – July 8, 2015) was a Cuban born sportscaster who settled in Puerto Rico, where he hosted, at various times, television and radio shows. Martinez was elected to the Puerto Rican Sports Hall of Fame in 2009. Biography Ramiro Martinez left Cuba in 1945 and moved to New York, New York, where he began broadcasting Major League Baseball games to a number of Hispanic countries. At that era, he worked alongside Argentine baseball commentator and friend Eloy Canel. During this period also, he authored columns for 12 newspapers and 3 magazines. In 1955, Ramirez established himself in Puerto Rico (some unreferenced sources claim he lived in Spain first). Ramiro Fernando Martínez (born 18 April 1991) is an Argentine professional footballer who plays as a goalkeeper for Almirante Brown. Career Martínez began with Boca Juniors of the Argentine Primera División. In July 2013, Martínez joined Primera B Metropolitana side Estudiantes on loan until December 2015. He made his Estudiantes debut on 7 February 2015 in a Copa Argentina win against Almagro. A week later he made his pro league debut versus Villa San Carlos in a 0–0 draw. He went on to make forty-four Primera B Metropolitana appearances before returning to Boca Juniors. Two years later, Martínez left Boca permanently without featuring for the first-team and subsequently made the move to Godoy Cruz. He joined on a free transfer and signed a two-year contract.
