Ramgarh District
Ramgarh district is one of the 24 districts in the Indian state of Jharkhand. It was also a military district during the British Regime, referred to then as Ramgarh district. Introduction and geography Ramgarh was made a district on 12 September 2007. It was carved out of erstwhile Hazaribagh District. Ramgarh lies at the heart of the Jharkhand state. It is a mining, industrial and cultural hub with the Maa Chhinnamasta Temple. In 1670s, the king Dalel Singh shifted the capital of Ramgarh Raj to Ramgarh and named it after his father Ram Singh. Ramgarh Cantonment
Ramgarh Cantonment, usually referred to as Ramgarh Cantt or just Ramgarh is a cantonment town, belonging to the Ramgarh district of the Indian state of Jharkhand. Historically, a subdivision of the larger Hazaribag district, Ramgarh was finally elevated to a district status on 12 September 2007 largely to ease administrative hardships. A town with a population just short of a million, Ramgarh houses the regimental centers for two of the oldest infantry regiments of India, namely the Punjab Regiment estd. 1761 and the Sikh Regiment estd. 1846. Ramgarh subdivision is an administrative subdivision of the Ramgarh district in the North Chotanagpur division in the state of Jharkhand, India. History Around 1740, Ramgarh was “Jungle District of Ramgarh”. With the East India Company acquiring the ''diwani'' of Bengal, Bihar and Odisha in 1765, it derived the right to collect revenue from the Ramgarh regime. In 1771, Ramgarh district had a Military Collector whose headquarter was in Chatra. After the Kol uprising in 1831, the British reorganised the administrative structure of the area. Hazaribagh emerged as an administrative centre. Ramgarh became a subdivision of Hazaribagh district in 1991 and was made a district in 2007. Ramgarhia Bunga
Ramgarhia Bunga or Burj is the three-storeyed red stone watchtowers complex located near southeastern edge of the Golden Temple, Amritsar. The two minaret-style Ramgarhia Bunga high towers are visible from the ''parikrama'' (circumambulation) walkway around the Harmandir Sahib Sarovar (water tank). It is a pre-Ranjit Singh structure built by Sikh warrior and Ramgarhia misl chief Jassa Singh Ramgarhia in late 18th-century, after the 1762 destruction and desecration of the Sikh holy temple and site by the Afghan Muslim forces led by Ahmed Shah Abdali. Ramgarh crater, also known as ''Ramgarh structure'', ''Ramgarh Dome'' and ''Ramgarh astrobleme'', is a meteor impact crater of diameter in Kota, Rajasthan, Kota plateau of Vindhya range located adjacent to Ramgarh village in Mangrol, Rajasthan, Mangrol tehsil of Baran district in Rajasthan state of India. The Ramgarhia is a caste from the Punjab region of northwestern India, encompassing members of the Lohar and Tarkhan subgroups. Etymology Originally called Thoka, meaning ''carpenter'', the Ramgarhia are named after Jassa Singh Ramgarhia, whose birth surname of Thoka became Ramgarhia in the 18th century when he was put in charge of rebuilding of what became known as Ramgarhia Bunga, at Ramrauni, near Amritsar. Occupation and status Ramgarhias traditionally mostly carpenters but included other artisan occupations such as stonemasons and blacksmiths. Generally, Sikh carpenters use ''Ramgarhia'' as a surname whereas Hindu carpenters use ''Dhiman''.
