''Rakkestad Avis'' is a local newspaper published in Rakkestad, Norway. History and profile The newspaper was started on 16 September 1912. It was published as ''Østfold Bygdeblad'' in Mysen from 1941 to 1986. The paper was affiliated with the Liberal Party, then the Norwegian Agrarian Association/ Agrarian Party after 1920. Officially it was apolitical until 1936. In 1941, during the occupation of Norway by Nazi Germany, the Germans amalgamated it with the newspaper '' Lokalposten'', and gave it the name ''Østfold Bygdeblad'' from 2 April 1941. The newspaper was eventually moved to Mysen, but it was moved back as the name reverted to ''Rakkestad Avis'' from 2 January 1987. It is published three days a week. A competitor from 2002 to 2008 ''Rakkestad Bygdeblad'' tried to publish on three other days of the week, but succumbed. ''Rakkestad Bygdeblad'' was a Norwegian newspaper, published in Rakkestad in Østfold county. History and profile ''Rakkestad Bygdeblad'' was started on 4 September 2002 as a competitor to '' Rakkestad Avis'', which until then had a monopoly as a local newspaper. The occupation of Norway by Nazi Germany during the Second World War began on 9 April 1940 after Operation Weserübung. ''Norsk presses historie 1660–2010'' is a four-volume work about the press media history of Norway. It was published in April 2010 by Universitetsforlaget, and was the first book of its kind in Norway. Structure and production Hans Fredrik Dahl was the superior editor of all four volumes. The first volume, ''En samfunnsmakt blir til. 1660–1880'' was edited by Martin Eide. The second volume, ''Presse, parti og publikum. 1880–1945'' was edited by Rune Ottosen. The third volume, ''Imperiet vakler. 1945–2010'' was edited by Guri Hjeltnes. The fourth volume, ''Norske aviser fra A til Å'' was edited by Idar Flo. While the first three volumes are written in regular prose, the fourth volume is more of an encyclopedia with about 400 "newspaper biographies".
