Raja Man Singh (politician)
Raja Man Singh (born 5 December 1921 – died 21 February 1985) was an Indian politician and titular head of princely Bharatpur State. He was seven-time Independent Member of Legislative Assembly (India), Member of Legislative Assembly from Deeg assembly constituency from 1952 to 1984. He was the son of Kishan Singh of Bharatpur. He was killed along with his two supporters in a fake police encounter in February 1985 after an incident of violence in which Rajasthan's then chief minister Shiv Charan Mathur's helicopter was damaged. His murder case was investigated by the Central Bureau of Investigation, CBI. Singh's murder led to the resignation of CM Shiv Charan Mathur. On 20 July 2020, a special CBI court in Mathura convicted 11 policemen, including former Deputy Superintendent of Police Kan Singh Bhati in Raja Man Singh's murder case. Deeg
Deeg is a historical town and a municipality in Bharatpur district in the state of Rajasthan, India. It is situated north of Bharatpur and northwest of Agra. In Hindu mythology, Deeg was situated along the ''parikrama'' path of Krishna, which started at Goverdhan, from Deeg. Some people identify it as the ancient town of "Dirgha" or "Dirghapur" mentioned in the epic ''Skanda Purana''. Deeg was the first capital of the Sinsinwar Hindu Jat state of Bharatpur, when Maharaja Badan Singh was proclaimed its ruler in 1722. In 1730, Maharaja Suraj Mal built the strong fortress of Deeg. After Suraj Mal moved the capital to Bharatpur, Deeg became the second capital of the rulers of Bharatpur princely state. It is known for its number of forts, palaces, gardens and fountains. Shiv Charan Mathur
Shiv Charan Mathur (14 February 1927 – 25 June 2009) was an Indian politician. A leader of the Indian National Congress, he was Chief Minister of Rajasthan from 1981 to 1985 and again from 1988 to 1989; later, he was Governor of Assam from 2008 to 2009. Mathur became Chief Minister of Rajasthan on 14 July 1981 and held that post until 23 February 1985. The killing of Raja Man Singh, the then titular head of the erstwhile princely state of Bharatpur caused a political storm, leading to his resignation. Subsequently, he became Chief Minister again from 20 January 1988 to 4 December 1989. In 2003 he was elected as a MLA from Mandalgarh (Bhilwara). The Central Bureau of Investigation (CBI) is the premier investigating agency of India. It operates under the jurisdiction of the Ministry of Personnel, Public Grievances and Pensions.
