''Raised on Country Music'' is the eighth studio album by Canadian country music group Family Brown. It was released in 1982 by RCA Records and includes the singles, "Some Never Stand a Chance," "Raised on Country Music," and "Memorized by Heart," which all charted on the '' RPM'' Country Tracks chart in Canada. Family Brown
Family Brown was a Canadian country music band founded in 1967 by Joe Brown (vocals, bass guitar), along with his son Barry (vocals, guitar) and daughters Lawanda and Tracey (vocals), as well as Dave Dennison (guitar) and Ron Sparling (drums). Between 1967 and 1990, the band charted several singles in both Canada and the United States. The band also won eighteen Canadian Country Music Association awards, the most received by any artist. After disbanding in 1990, Barry and Tracey Brown and Randall Prescott formed the group Prescott-Brown in 1991. History Family Brown was founded in 1967 by frontman Joe "Papa" Brown, who was born August 30, 1925 in Amherst, Nova Scotia. ''RPM'' ( and later ) was a Canadian music-industry publication that featured song and album charts for Canada. The publication was founded by Walt Grealis in February 1964, supported through its existence by record label owner Stan Klees. ''RPM'' ceased publication in November 2000. ''RPM'' stood for "Records, Promotion, Music". The magazine's title varied over the years, including ''RPM Weekly'' and ''RPM Magazine''. Canadian music charts ''RPM'' maintained several format charts, including Top Singles (all genres), Adult Contemporary, Dance, Urban, Rock/Alternative and Country Tracks (or Top Country Tracks) for country music. The Canadian Country Music Association (CCMA) was founded in 1976 as the Academy of Country Music Entertainment to organize, promote and develop a Canadian country music industry. The groundwork for the association began on June 3rd, 1973 when a group of twelve entertainers, promoters and radio personalities met at The Horseshoe Tavern in Toronto, Ontario and formed a Board of Directors to help promote Canadian content. Barry Brown (born December 17, 1952), is a Canadian country music artist and songwriter. Brown, a former member of Family Brown and Prescott-Brown. Both bands included his sister, singer Tracey Brown. Biography Brown began performing as a member of Canada's most awarded country band, Family Brown. Harry Shannon (born December 4, 1948) is an American novelist, songwriter and entertainer. He was born Harry Rivard Siebert in Reno, Nevada, to Dr. William L. Siebert and Belle Elizabeth (née) Cazier. He has a brother, Dwight W. Siebert, and a sister, Marsha Desiderio. Shannon was married from 1978 to 1988 to Swiss singer Suzanne Klee. In 1994 he married songwriter Wendy Kramer. They have one child, Paige Emerson Shannon, born 1999. Raised in Reno, Shannon moved to Pomona, California in the late 1950s, where he attended Ganesha High School. After graduation, he joined the singing group The Kids Next Door, touring colleges around the US, playing casino and show rooms and performing on variety television shows.
