She attended the Sydney Church of England Grammar School – an all girls preparatory school located in Sydney, New South Wales, Australia – from 1978 to 1986 where she participated in school musicals, the orchestra, field hockey, and track & field. From 1988 to 1993 she attended the University of Sydney where she received her bachelor's and master's degrees in architecture (science) and architecture. While at the University of Sydney, Dominguez was a writer and performer for the Sydney University architecture revue and the president of the Sydney University Windsurfing Club.
