"Raining All Over the World" is a song by Northern Irish band The Adventures, which was released in 1992 as the lead single from their fourth and final studio album ''Lions and Tigers and Bears'' (1993). The song was written by Pat Gribben and produced by Pat Collier. "Raining All Over the World" reached number 68 in the UK Singles Chart and number 21 in the '' Music Week'' Top 50 Airplay Chart. Music video The song's original music video was shot by a French director who, according to the band's vocalist Terry Sharpe, had "all these ideas for a concept video which sounded dodgy to begin with". Polydor were unhappy with the results and asked the band re-shoot most of the video. The Adventures
The Adventures were a Northern Irish rock/pop band, formed in Belfast in 1984 who had a number of hits during the 1980s and early 1990s. The band moved to London where they signed to Chrysalis Records and released their first single in 1984. Following their debut album, the group moved to Elektra Records and scored their biggest hit, "Broken Land". Written by guitarist Pat Gribben, it reached number 20 in the UK Singles Chart, and became the most played song on BBC Radio 1 in 1988. The band were actively recording and touring from 1984 up until 1993, but despite being managed by the highly-influential Simon Fuller, The Adventures never achieved a significant commercial breakthrough. The band have reformed several times to play live gigs and festivals in Belfast, including in 1997, twice in the 2000s, and in 2019. No further studio recordings have been made. ''Lions and Tigers and Bears'' is the fourth album by rock band The Adventures, released in 1993. The album contained the minor hit " Raining All Over the World", signalling the end of their chart activity. The follow-up single " Monday Monday" (a cover of The Mamas and Papas hit) stalled outside the official UK top 75 at #83. The album title was adopted by the band at the suggestion of Pat and Eileen Gribben's daughter (according to journalist Malcolm Dome, who wrote the sleeve notes for the reissued version of the album mentioned below). Like the group's previous album, ''Trading Secrets with the Moon'', the album was panned by critics , with Allmusic also giving it 1.5 out of 5 stars. "Monday, Monday" is a 1966 song written by John Phillips and recorded by the Mamas & the Papas, using background instruments played by members of the Wrecking Crew for their 1966 album ''If You Can Believe Your Eyes and Ears''. It was the group's only #1 hit on the U.S. ''Billboard'' Hot 100,. Phillips said that he wrote the song quickly, in about 20 minutes. The song includes a pregnant pause before the coda, which modulates up a semitone. Succeeding ''Good Lovin''' by the Young Rascals in the number one position, the event marked the first time in the history of the Billboard Hot 100 two songs with pregnant pauses were consecutive number one hits. James Masterton
James Masterton (born 2 September 1973) is a music writer and columnist, his work focusing on the UK Singles Chart having been an online fixture on various sites since the 1990s. Masterton is also a producer for talkSPORT, and has worked on air as a presenter at the Bradford independent local radio station the Pulse. Music writing Masterton began posting his weekly comments about the latest singles chart on Usenet in 1992, while a student at Lancaster University, whence he graduated in 1994. In 1995 he became an important element of BT's Dotmusic website, an online hub for the UK music scene and one of the few sites that posted the entire UK top 75 every week. When Dotmusic was purchased from BT by Yahoo! on October 28, 2003, Masterton's commentary moved to Yahoo! Launch with it, remaining with the site as it transformed into Yahoo! Peter-John Vettese
Peter-John Vettese (born 15 August 1956 in Scotland), also known as Peter Vettese, is a Scottish keyboardist, songwriter, arranger and record producer. Vettese is perhaps best known for being the keyboardist for progressive rock band Jethro Tull for most of the 1980s. Early life Peter Vettese grew up in a musical family in Brechin, Angus, Scotland. He began his music studies with piano lessons at the age of 4. At 9, he began playing in public with his father's band. He left home at 17 to join one of the UK's biggest dance hall Big Bands, but was fired for rehearsing in company time with his own group. He then formed the jazz fusion group Solaris with guitarist Jim Condie, and toured Scotland and the US.
