Ragnar Ulfung
Ragnar Sigurd Ulfung (born 28 February 1927) is a Norwegian operatic tenor. Described in the '' Grove Dictionary of Music and Musicians'' as "a brilliant actor with an incisive voice", he was particularly known for his portrayals of Herod ('' Salome'') and Mime (''Der Ring des Nibelungen'').Blyth (2001) p. 60 He is also an opera director. Amongst the productions he has directed was a complete ''Ring'' cycle for the Seattle Opera. Ulfung was born in Oslo and studied there and in Milan before making his debut in ''Let's Make an Opera'' (Oslo, 1950). He made a successful debut at the Royal Swedish Opera in 1958 as Canio in '' Pagliacci'' and remained a member of the company until 1984. However, he also made guest appearances abroad. He made his debut at the Metropolitan Opera on 12 December 1972 as Mime in '' Siegfried'' and went on to sing 93 performances there between 1972 and 1993. Ingmar Bergman
Ernst Ingmar Bergman (14 July 1918 – 30 July 2007) was a Swedish film director, screenwriter, producer and playwright. Widely considered one of the greatest and most influential filmmakers of all time, his films are known as "profoundly personal meditations into the myriad struggles facing the psyche and the soul." Lars Cleveman
Lars Cleveman (born 16 June 1958) is a Swedish musician and opera singer. Career Together with Martin Rössel, Cleveman founded Sweden's first electronic underground group, Dom Dummaste. Additionally, Cleveman is a tenor opera singer, performing at the Royal Swedish Opera in Stockholm. He made his début at Covent Garden in 2009 as Tristan in Tristan und Isolde replacing an indisposed Ben Heppner and subsequently also sang at Bayreuther Festspiele during 2011. In May 2013, Cleveman made his début at the Metropolitan Opera singing the role of Siegfried in the third of three performances of Wagner's Ring Cycle. Nina Stemme
Nina Maria Stemme (born Nina Maria Thöldte on 11 May 1963) is a Swedish dramatic soprano opera singer. Stemme "is regarded by today's opera fans as our era's greatest Wagnerian soprano". In 2010, Michael Kimmelman wrote of one of Stemme's performances in Richard Wagner's opera ''Die Walküre'', "As for Brünnhilde, Nina Stemme sang gloriously. Dalhalla
Dalhalla is an open air theatre located in a former limestone quarry, and is used as a summer music venue. It is located north of Lake Siljan and the municipality of Rättvik in Dalarna, central Sweden. The quarry, previously known as ''Draggängarna'', is deep, long and wide. It was in operation until 1990. The open air theater was opened in 1995 and currently has 4,000 seats. The acoustical qualities are comparable to the best outdoor stages in Europe. Dalhalla presents 20-30 events each summer, from June to the beginning of September with a combination of opera, choral works, jazz and popular concerts making up the bulk of the program. In 2005, guest performers came from the Bolshoi Theatre in Moscow, and Mikis Theodorakis celebrated his 80th birthday. ''The Magic Flute'' ( sv, Trollflöjten) is Ingmar Bergman's 1975 film version of Mozart's opera ''Die Zauberflöte''. It was intended as a television production and was first shown on Swedish television on 1 January 1975, but was followed by a cinema release later that year. The work is widely viewed as one of the most successful films of an opera ever made, and as an unusual item among the director's works.
