Raghunath Temple
Raghunath Temple is a Hindu temple located in Jammu (city), Jammu in the Indian States and territories of India, union territory of Jammu and Kashmir (union territory), Jammu and Kashmir. It consists of a complex of seven Hindu shrines. Raghunath Temple was constructed by the first Dogra ruler Maharaja Gulab Singh in the year 1835 and later his son Ranbir Singh (Maharaja), Maharaja Ranbir Singh got it completed in the year 1860 During Dogra rule. The temple has many gods in its complex of shrines, but the presiding deity is Rama – also known as Raghunath, an Avatar of Vishnu. All the spiral-shaped towers have gold plated spires. The niches in the walls of the shrines are decorated with 300 well-crafted icons of gods and goddesses including those of Surya and Shiva, but most are particularly related to the life stories of Rama and Krishna. Pandit Raghunath Seth (1931 – 15 February 2014) was a noted Indian exponent of Hindustani classical music through the medium of Bansuri, or bamboo flute; he was also a noted film score composer. He has received Sangeet Natak Akademi Award in 1994, given by Sangeet Natak Akademi, India's National Academy for Music, Dance and Drama. Vijay Raghunath Pandharipande (August 7, 1940 – January 3, 2006) was an Indian-American physicist, who played a leading role in the development of the nuclear many-body problem. Biography Pandharipande obtained his bachelor's and master's degree from Nagpur University in 1959 and 1961 respectively. He earned his PhD degree from University of Bombay in 1969. After working at Niels Bohr Institute and Cornell University, Pandharipande joined the University of Illinois at Urbana-Champaign in 1972, becoming a faculty member there in the next year. He became a full professor in 1977 and stayed there the rest of his life. Shripad Raghunath Joshi (1920 – 2002) was a Marathi author from Maharashtra, India. Joshi was born in the Kolhapur district of Maharashtra. Under the leadership of Mahatma Gandhi, he participated in the Indian struggle for freedom from the British Raj. For his freedom activities, the British rulers had imprisoned him during 1942 - 1944 at ''Yerawada'' prison. Raghunath Vithal Khedkar (born 1873 in Bombay) was an Indian surgeon. In 1959, he revised, enlarged, and published a historical work written by his father, Vithal Krishnaji Khedkar: '' The Divine Heritage of the Yadavas''. Khedkar studied medicine and surgery in the United Kingdom, at Edinburgh and Glasgow.
