Raghu Manivannan is an Indian actor, who has appeared in Tamil language films. The son of actor Manivannan, he has appeared in films including '' Maaran'' (2002) and ''Nagaraja Cholan MA, MLA'' (2013). Career Raghu Manivannan made his debut with the Sathyaraj-starrer '' Maaran'' (2002), with a critic from The Hindu stating "as the studious first year medical college student suits the character so well, that you forget that the lad is just acting out a role". He subsequently failed to get bigger film offers and worked on a couple of low-budget ventures and shelved films including ''Kadhal Valarthen'', where he worked with Manoj Bharathiraja and Kunal. In 2013, Raghu Manivannan played a leading role alongside Sathyaraj in his father's 50th directorial venture, ''Nagaraja Cholan MA, MLA''. S. Manivannan Rajagopal (31 July 1953 – 15 June 2013), better known by his mononym Manivannan, was an Indian film director, actor and activist who worked mainly in Tamil cinema and also worked in a few Telugu & Malayalam films. In a career spanning three decades, he went from being a story and dialogue writer for director Bharathiraja from 1980–82 to a successful director who thrived in experimenting with different genres, before becoming an actor. With over 400 films to his name, Manivannan was one of the most experienced actors in the field and directed exactly 50 films. Manivannan was mainly a supporting actor in films and often played the comedian, supporting character and villainous roles. He supported various political parties, including the Dravida Munnetra Kazhagam and the Marumalarchi Dravida Munnetra Kazhagam. ''Maaran'' is a 2002 Indian Tamil-language vigilante crime film, directed by A. Jawahar, starring Sathyaraj, Seetha and Raghuvannan. It was released on 20 September 2002. ''Nagaraja Cholan MA, MLA'' is a 2013 Tamil-language political satire film directed by Manivannan. A sequel to ''Amaidhi Padai'' (1994), it stars Sathyaraj in his 200th film, reprising his role as Nagaraja Cholan from the original, alongside an ensemble cast including Seeman, Manivannan, his son Raghuvannan, Mrudula Murali, Komal Sharma and Varsha Ashwathi. The film, featuring music composed by James Vasanthan, was produced by Ravichandran and K. Suresh under the banner of V House Production and shot in Coimbatore and surrounding areas in one single schedule. Unlike the original, ''Nagaraja Cholan MA, MLA'' opened to mixed reviews.
