Rafael Manzano Prize
The Rafael Manzano Prize for New Traditional Architecture is an award organized by INTBAU, thanks to the contribution of Richard H. Driehaus Charitable Lead Trust, with the support of the Serra Henriques Foundation, the Royal Academy of Fine Arts of San Fernando and Hispania Nostra, and with the High Sponsorship of the Presidency of the Portuguese Republic. It is awarded annually to architects who have carried out, in Portugal or in Spain, restoration works of monuments or other architectural interventions that have stood out for their contribution to the preservation, promotion and dissemination of the values of classical and traditional architecture. The award is named after the architect Rafael Manzano Martos, who has devoted his career to the preservation of the Spanish architectural and urban heritage, both through restoration works and by designing new architectures based on this heritage, for which he received the international 2010 Richard H. Sergi Bastidas
Sergi Bastidas (born February 1954, in Barcelona, Catalonia) is a Spanish designer and auto didactical architect. He is known for the integrative handling of historical buildings and the preservation of their original building substance. After school Sergi Bastidas concluded his formal education at the ''Escuela de Artes Y Oficios de Barcelona''. He then began working at the studio of Enric Franch Miret. The collaboration with the renowned industrial designer led to participations in various competitions of the ''Foment de les Arts i del Disseny'', ADI-FAD. From the 1980s onwards, Bastidas devoted himself to architecture, especially in the Balearic Islands and realized concepts of buildings, especially from the 18th century, for their ecologically modern use while preserving the original character as much as possible. António Maria Braga
António Maria Braga is a Portuguese architect, who specializes in traditional Portuguese architecture. Together with the architect Alberto Castro Nunes, he was the 8th winner of the Rafael Manzano Prize for New Traditional Architecture, awarded in 2019. Education António Braga graduated in Architecture in 1980 from the Escola Superior de Belas-Artes of Lisbon (ESBAL), today the Faculty of Architecture of the University of Lisbon, which at the time offered an exclusively Modernist curriculum. António Braga thus developed his mastery of traditional architecture outside his academic years. Notre Dame School Of Architecture
The University of Notre Dame School of Architecture was the first Catholic university in America to offer a degree in architecture, beginning in 1898. The School offers undergraduate and post-graduate architecture programs. The School of Architecture has approximately 200 undergraduate students and 30 graduate students. The School has a library, which includes a rare book collection dedicated to the history of the study and practice of architecture in the United States.
