Radstock Town Football Club is a football club based in Radstock, Somerset, England. It is a member of the and plays at the Southfields Recreation Ground. The club is affiliated to the Somerset County FA. History Believed to be one of the oldest clubs in the county of Somerset, Radstock Town Football Club's official year of foundation, as recognised by The Football Association, was 1895, although there is evidence that appears to show that a Radstock team was playing as early as the 1860s. After playing in the Western League in 1897–98 as Radstock, they rejoined the League as Radstock Town in 1903–04, along with near neighbours Welton Rovers but resigned at the end of the 1910–11 season. They again rejoined the League after the First World War and the 1920s were to see a number of top six finishes. Radstock
Radstock is a town and civil parish on the northern slope of the Mendip Hills in Somerset, England, about south-west of Bath and north-west of Frome. It is within the area of the unitary authority of Bath and North East Somerset. The Radstock built-up area had a population of 9,419 at the 2011 Census. Radstock has been settled since the Iron Age, and its importance grew after the construction of the Fosse Way, a Roman road. The town grew after 1763, when coal was discovered in the area. Large numbers of mines opened during the 19th century, including several owned by the Waldegrave family, who had been Lords of the Manor since the Civil War. Admiral Lord Radstock, brother of George, fourth Earl Waldegrave, took the town's name as his title when created a Baron. The Football Association Challenge Vase, usually referred to as the FA Vase, is an annual football competition for teams playing in Steps 5 and 6 of the English National League System (or equivalently, tier 9 or 10 of the overall English football league system). For the 2017–18 season 619 entrants were accepted, with two qualifying rounds preceding the six proper rounds, semi-finals (played over two legs) and final to be played at Wembley Stadium. The Football Association Challenge Cup, more commonly known as the FA Cup, is an annual knockout football competition in men's domestic English football. First played during the 1871–72 season, it is the oldest national football competition in the world. It is organised by and named after The Football Association (The FA). Somerset Senior League
The Somerset County League is a football competition based in England. The Premier Division sits at step 7 (or level 11) of the National League System. It is a feeder to the Western League Division One and has promoted a club in seven of the last ten seasons – Hengrove Athletic, Portishead, Radstock Town, Oldland Abbotonians, Wells City, Cheddar, Ashton & Backwell United and Nailsea & Tickenham.
