Radio Venceremos
Radio Venceremos (Spanish; in English, "'We Shall Overcome' Radio") was an 'underground' radio network of the anti-government Farabundo Martí National Liberation Front (FMLN) during the Salvadoran Civil War. The station "specialized in ideological propaganda, acerbic commentary, and pointed ridicule of the government". The radio station was founded by Carlos Henríquez Consalvi (Santiago). Despite the end of the war in 1992, the network continues to broadcast. The war years of the station and its national and international influence were documented in the Spanish-language book ''Las mil y una historias de radio Venceremos'' and its English translation, ''Rebel radio: the story of El Salvador's Radio Venceremos'', by the author José Ignacio López Vigil (translator: Mark Fried), a book recorded by the American Library of Congress. Farabundo Martí National Liberation Front
The Farabundo Martí National Liberation Front ( es, Frente Farabundo Martí para la Liberación Nacional, FMLN) is a left-wing political party in El Salvador. The FMLN was formed as an umbrella group on 10 October 1980, from five leftist guerrilla organizations; the Fuerzas Populares de Liberación Farabundo Martí (FPL), the People's Revolutionary Army (ERP), the Resistencia Nacional (RN), the Partido Comunista Salvadoreño (PCS) and the Partido Revolucionario de los Trabajadores Centroamericanos (PRTC). Salvadoran Civil War
The Salvadoran Civil War ( es, guerra civil de El Salvador) was a twelve year period of civil war in El Salvador that was fought between the government of El Salvador and the Farabundo Martí National Liberation Front (FMLN), a coalition or "umbrella organization" of left-wing groups. A coup on 15 October 1979 followed by government killings of anti-coup protesters is widely seen as the start of civil war. The war did not formally end until 16 January 1992 with the signing of the Chapultepec Peace Accords in Mexico City. Carlos Henríquez Consalvi
Carlos Henríquez Consalvi, alias ''Santiago'' is a Venezuelan author, journalist, radio producer and museum director. Life Youth and study Consalvi was born in Mérida in 1947. His parents were opponents of the Venezuelan dictatorship, which caused that part of his youth he grew up in Mexico and Costa Rica. Museum of the Revolution () is a museum commemorating the antecedents and events of the Salvadoran Civil War, which took place from approximately 1980 until 1992. Morazán Department
Morazán () is a department of El Salvador. Located in the northeast part of the country, its capital is San Francisco Gotera. It covers a total surface area of 1,447 km² and has a population of more than 199,500. History Gotera was made a department in 1875, with its capital at Osicala. On February 8, 1877, Gotera was made the capital. The department changed its name from Gotera to Morazán on March 14, 1877. Morazán was a major stronghold of the guerrilla movement during the 1979-1992 civil war.
