In telecommunications, radio silence or Emissions Control (EMCON) is a status in which all fixed or mobile radio stations in an area are asked to stop transmitting for safety or security reasons. The term "radio station" may include anything capable of transmitting a radio signal. A single ship, aircraft, spacecraft, or group of them may also maintain radio silence. Amateur radio Wilderness Protocol The Wilderness Protocol recommends that those stations able to do so should monitor the primary (and secondary, if possible) frequency every three hours starting at 7 AM, local time, for 5 minutes starting at the top of every hour, or even continuously. Radio Silence (band)
Jamiroquai () are an English funk and acid jazz band from London. Formed in 1992, they are fronted by vocalist Jay Kay, and were prominent in the London-based funk and acid jazz movement of the 1990s. They built on their acid jazz sound in their early releases and later drew from rock, disco, electronic and Latin music genres. Lyrically, the group has addressed social and environmental justice. Kay has remained as the only original member through several line-up changes. The band made their debut under Acid Jazz Records but subsequently found mainstream success under Sony. While under this label, three of their albums have charted at number one in the UK, including '' Emergency on Planet Earth'' (1993), '' Synkronized'' (1999) and '' A Funk Odyssey'' (2001). ''Radio Silence'' is the first full-length album by the Toronto-based new wave band Blue Peter. Released in 1980, it contained the moderately successful single "Video Verite", as well as the eponymous single "Radio Silence", known for its simple "dying keyboard" riff. The album ranked 60th in CFNY's Top 80 Albums of 1980. The original LP release credits production to Jasper and Blue Peter. The CD issue from 2007 credits the producers as Kevin Doyle, Chris Wardman and Jasper. Radio Silence (Boris Grebenshchikov Album)
Radio Silence is an album by Boris Grebenshchikov (simplified to "Grebenshikov" on the cover), leader of the Russian group Aquarium. The album was recorded in 1988 – 1989 in studios in the United States, United Kingdom, and Canada, mostly with Western musicians, and produced by David A. Stewart. It was hailed as the first contract of a Russian (then, Soviet) rock musician with a Western label. Having by then achieved the status of the most prominent rock musician in Russia, Boris had just recently been permitted to travel abroad (thanks to Perestroika). On most tracks, only Alexander Titov (bass) is of the then-current Russian Aquarium band, the rest being Western musicians (with the exception of ''Death of King Arthur'' where many Aquarium musicians can be heard). ''Radio Silence'' is the eighth studio album by American rapper Talib Kweli. It was released on November 17, 2017 through Talib's Javotti Media. The album was preceded by four promotional audio releases: "Let It Roll", "She's My Hero", "Heads Up Eyes Open" featuring Rick Ross and Yummy Bingham, and "Traveling Light" featuring Anderson .Paak. "Heads Up Eyes Open" saw a video release prior to the album's release date while the video for "Traveling Light" was released on November 17. ''The Golden Age of Wireless'' is the debut album by English musician Thomas Dolby. Originally released in May 1982, the album was reissued in a number of different configurations, with later resequencings including the pop hit "She Blinded Me with Science". Background Preceding the album, Dolby allowed a demo of "Airwaves" to be included on a collection titled ''From Brussels with Love'', published in December 1980 by Belgian label Les Disques Du Crépuscule. In response to friends urging him to put out a single, Dolby released his first 45 rpm 7-inch single, "Urges" backed with "Leipzig", on 18 February 1981. Under the imprint of London-based Armageddon Records, the single was co-produced by Andy Partridge of XTC, who also played percussion on the track. "Radio Silence" is a song by Australian musician Gretta Ray, released on 3 August 2018 as the fourth and final single from Ray's debut EP ''Here and Now (EP), Here and Now'' (2018). In speaking about the EP, Ray said "'Radio Silence' is pure heartbreak and a heavy sense of guilt." Ray told the ABC "I have this obsession with this sister song concept. I love writing about the same scenario but from a totally different angle or using a completely different emotion to tell the same story. So, I would say that 'Time' is quite hopeful and optimistic in comparison to 'Radio Silence', yet it's about a very similar scenario." The song was Ray's debut single in the United Kingdom. At the APRA Music Awards of 2020, the song was nominated for Most Performed Alternate Work of the Year. In 2021, the song was certified gold in Australia.
