Radio Hargeisa
Radio Hargeisa ( so, Radio Hargeysa, ar, راديو هرجيسا) is a Somaliland public service broadcaster, Its headquarters are at Ministry of Information, Hargeisa. History Established in 1943 in the former British Somaliland protectorate as the first Somali language station, it broadcasts mostly in Somali but also features news bulletins in Amharic, Arabic and English. The channel was responsible for the widespread propagation of the new Balwo genre developed by Abdi Sinimo and the ''Heellooy'' oud music that Abdullahi Qarshe fused Balwo with. Government Of Somaliland
The Government of Somaliland (JSL) ( so, Dowladda Somaliland or Xukuumada Somaliland, ar, حكومة صوماليلاند) is the central government of Somaliland. The Government of Somaliland consists of legislative, executive, and judicial branches, each of which functions independently from the others. The Government runs under the framework established by the Constitution of Somaliland, adopted in 2001. It is a unitary state. The seat of the government is located in Hargeisa, the capital of Somaliland. Abdullahi Qarshe
Abdullahi Qarshe ( so, Cabdilaahi Qarshe, ar, عبدالله قارشي) (1924–1994) was a Somali people, Somali musician, poet and playwright known as the "Father of Music of Somalia, Somali music". In 1957 he wrote and composed the Somali National Anthem, Qolobaa Calankeed. Biography Early life Qarshe was born in 1924 in the Somali expatriate community in Moshi, Kilimanjaro, Moshi, Tanzania. He belonged to the Mousa Arreh subdivision of the Habar Yoonis sub clan of Garhajis Isaaq that mainly inhabits the Togdheer region of Somaliland. Before migrating to Tanzania, his family was based in the town of Maydh, in the Sanaag region in eastern Somaliland, where they were the keepers of the tomb of Ishaaq bin Ahmed, Shaykh Ishaaq, the common progenitor of the wider Isaaq clan family. In 1931, at the behest of his family, he left Tanzania and settled in Aden, Yemen for his education, where he subsequently Hafiz (Quran), memorized the entire Quran. Ali Feiruz
Ali Abdi Feiruz, known as Ali Feiruz, ( so, Cali Fayruus) was a prominent Somali musician. He belonged to the Habr Awal clan of the Isaaq clan family. Biography Feiruz was born in 1931 in Djibouti. He later moved to Hargeisa, Somaliland in the late 1950s, and then on to Mogadishu in 1973. Feiruz's career began with Radio Hargeisa in the late 1950s. He was one of the first popular Somali ''kaban'' (oud) players in the 1950s, and eventually began incorporating modern instruments into his performances in the 1960s, such as the guitar, violin and accordion. A prominent member of the Walaalaha Hargeisa and Hobolada Waaberi musical troupes, Feiruz composed, among other tunes, ''Ilaahayow waa kugu mahad'', a tune whose release coincided with the independence of the former British Somaliland protectorate.
