Racquetball At The 2011 Pan American Games
Racquetball competitions at the 2011 Pan American Games in Guadalajara will be held from October 17 to October 25 at the Racquetball Complex. Racquetball will return to the games after being dropped from the 2007 Pan American Games. Medal summary Medal table Men's events Women's events Schedule All times are Central Daylight Time ( UTC-5). Qualification There will be a maximum of 60 athletes competing in racquetball (33 males and 27 females). All countries must compete in the 2011 Pan American Racquetball championship to qualify athletes to the games, including Mexico the host nation. After the tournament is completed each nation will be given scores for each event, and the top countries will qualify athletes. Each nation can enter the pairs and teams competition, provided they have qualified at least two athletes. Racquetball Complex
Racquetball is a list of racket sports, racquet sport and a team sport played with a hollow rubber ball on an indoor or outdoor court. Joseph Sobek invented the modern sport of racquetball in 1950, adding a stringed racquet to Four wall paddleball, paddleball in order to increase velocity and control. Unlike most List of racquet sports, racquet sports, such as tennis and badminton, there is no net to hit the ball over, and, unlike squash (sport), squash, no tin (out of bounds area at the bottom of front wall) to hit the ball above. Chris Crowther
Chris Crowther (born November 6, 1978) is a professional racquetball player. Crowther was the #5 player on the International Racquetball Tour at the end of the 2010–11 season, which was a career high and the sixth season he'd finished in the IRT's top 10 players. A California native, Crowther is the tallest player on the IRT and known for his strong drive serve and hard hitting playing style. Professional career Crowther played his first IRT match in May 1997, losing to Cliff Swain in three games, he wasn't full-time until the 2001–02 season, when he played the US Open for the first time, making it to the Round of 16, when he again lost to Swain. Crowther made the finals of an IRT event for the first time in September 2010 at the Cali Colombia Grand Slam event, losing to Kane Waselenchuk in four games. Carla Muñoz
Carla Muñoz Montesinos (born February 12, 1992) is a Chilean professional racquetball player. She has won multiple medals, including the three consecutive gold medals in the USA Racquetball National Intercollegiate Championships in 2016, 2017, and 2018. In 2014, Munoz was awarded Best Racquetball Player of the Year by the Chilean Journalist Association. She plays for the Ladies Professional Racquetball Tour and is currently ranked #10 in the world. In 2016, Muñoz received a two-year scholarship to attend Colorado State University Pueblo to finish her degree in Business and Accounting, and to play for their nationally-ranked racquetball program. In 2017, Carla represented CSU Pueblo at the National Intercollegiate Championships, winning the gold medal in Singles, and the silver medal in Doubles. Angela Grisar (born May 2, 1973) is a Chilean retired racquetball player. She was the first South American woman's racquetball player to finish in the top 10 on the women's pro tour, doing so six straight seasons (2003-04 to 2008-09). Aimee Ruiz (born February 12, 1975) is a left-handed American racquetball player. Samantha Salas Solís (born December 15, 1986) is a Mexican racquetball player. Salas is the current World Champion in both Women's Doubles - winning that title for a fifth time with Paola Longoria at the 2022 World Championships in San Luis Potosí, Mexico - and Mixed Doubles with Rodrigo Montoya. She is also the current Pan American Games Champion in Women's Doubles, winning that title with Longoria for a third consecutive time in 2019 in Lima. Rhonda Rajsich (born October 7, 1978) is an American racquetball player. She has been World Champion in Women's Singles twice, and Pan American Champion 6 times (4 times in Women's Singles & twice in Women's Doubles), as well as US Open champion four times. Rajsich was the #1 player on the Ladies Professional Racquetball Tour season ending rankings four times – three straight seasons from 2005–06 to 2007-08 and then again in 2010–11. Paola Michelle Longoria López (born July 20, 1989) is a Mexican racquetball player. She is the current Women's World Champion in both Singles and Doubles, winning both divisions at the 2022 International Racquetball Federation (IRF) World Championships in San Luis Potosi. Longoria is the winningest player in IRF World Championship history, and she is the only woman to win both singles and doubles at Worlds.
