Racism In Soccer
Racism in association football is the abuse of players, officials, and fans because of their skin colour, nationality, or ethnicity. Some may also be targeted because of their association with an opposing team. However, there have been instances of individuals being targeted by their own fans. Racism in association football has been most studied in the European Union and Russia, although racist incidents have been reported abroad. In response to racist incidents at association football matches, in May 2013, FIFA, the international governing body of association football, announced new measures to deal with racism in the sport. The topic of racism in association football has been widely covered by the media as well as academic studies. Odion Jude Ighalo (born 16 June 1989) is a Nigerian professional footballer who plays as a striker for Saudi Professional League club Al Hilal and the Nigeria national team. Zhang Li ( Chinese: 张力; born 6 August 1989) is a Chinese footballer who currently plays as a midfielder for Changchun Yatai in the Chinese Super League. Club career In 2009, Zhang Li started his professional footballer career with Henan Jianye in the Chinese Super League. He eventually made his league debut for Henan on 21 May 2011 in a game against Dalian Shide. In February 2015, he was loaned to China League One club Wuhan Zall until 31 December 2015. He was sent to the reserved team in 2016. In February 2017, Zhang moved to fellow Super League side Changchun Yatai. He would go on to make his debut for the club in a league game against Guangzhou R&F F.C. on 12 March 2017, which ended in a 1-0 defeat. Demba Ba (born 25 May 1985) is a former professional footballer. He serves as the chairman of National Independent Soccer Association side ASC San Diego. He made his first-team debut with French team Rouen in 2005 before moving to Mouscron and then 1899 Hoffenheim in Germany in 2007. In 2011, he moved to Premier League side West Ham United.
