Racing Club de Roubaix was a French association football team that played in Roubaix, Nord. History The team was founded in 1895 and was very successful before the establishment of professionalism in France. In 1933, after losing twice in a row in the final of Coupe de France, this time against city rival Excelsior AC Roubaix (a professional team), the team turned professional and reached Division 1 in 1936 and stayed there till World War II. After the war, the club merged with Excelsior AC Roubaix and US Tourcoing in CO Roubaix-Tourcoing (1945–1963). In 1963, CO Roubaix-Tourcoing lost its professional status and RC Roubaix decided to merge with another club, Stade Roubaix, to create Racing Stade Roubaisien. This team would eventually merge with Roubaix Football (i.e. former Excelsior AC Roubaix) in Stade Club Olympique de Roubaix, a team which ended in 1995 due to financial problems. Charles Griffiths (footballer)
Charles Griffiths (died 15 May 1936) was an English football player and manager. He played in England, and coached in Belgium, France, Germany and the Netherlands in the early 20th century. Playing career Griffiths was born in Rugby and played as an inside-forward for Luton Town and Barrow before joining Preston North End in 1907. He then made one appearance in the Football League for Lincoln City in 1907. He also played for Oswestry Olympics, Chirk, Oswestry United, St Helens Town, Barnsley, Coventry City, Wellington Town and Wrexham. Coaching career In 1910, he worked for Karlsruher FV, during his time with the club, they won the Southern German championship. In August 1911, he was appointed as the first full-time manager of Bayern Munich, however his time at the club was to last only seven months at the Bavarian club and was dismissed on 6 April 1912. Club Olympique de Roubaix-Tourcoing was a football club based in Roubaix, France. The team was founded in 1945 in a merge of three clubs: Excelsior AC Roubaix, RC Roubaix and US Tourcoing. In the 1946–47 season, the club won the Division 1. The club later fell into the lower levels of French football and was eventually dissolved on 15 June 1970. Union Sportive Tourquennoise, commonly shortened to US Tourcoing, is a French football club founded in 1902 and based in Tourcoing. The club played in the Championnat National 3 (and its previous incarnation at the fifth level) for five seasons since 2014–2015 after finishing first in the Division Honneur of Nord-Pas-de-Calais during the 2013–2014 season, but were relegated back to the sixth level in 2019. History Founded on 12 May 1898, as US Tourcoing, the club played football from 1902 under the leadership of the supervisor of the Lycée Gambetta: Albert Fromentin. The colours were black and white. Champions of the USFSA du Nord in 1900, 1909, 1910 and 1912, US Tourcoing reached three times the semifinals of the Championnat de France (1900, 1909 and 1912) and won it in 1910 .
