Rachelle Brown
Rachel "Rachelle" Brown (born July 9, 1986 as Rachel Pidherny) is a Canadian curler from Edmonton, Alberta. Career Born in Smithers, British Columbia, Brown moved to Edmonton c. 2006. As a university curler, she represented the University of Alberta at four CIS/CCA Curling Championships. Brown first represented her new province at the 2009 Canadian Mixed Curling Championship, playing lead for Team Alberta, skipped by Tom Appelman. The team had a less than successful tournament, going 3–8, but Brown had the best percentage among leads in the tournament, and was named to the First All-Star team. Brown played for a number of skips before joining the Sweeting rink in 2011. She played with Joanne Delanoy from 2008 to 2009, Diane Foster and Casey Scheidegger from 2009 to 2010 and for Bobbie Sauder and Dana Ferguson from 2010 to 2011. Smithers is a town in northwestern British Columbia, approximately halfway between Prince George and Prince Rupert. 2014 Scotties Tournament Of Hearts
The 2014 Scotties Tournament of Hearts was held from February 1 to 9 at the Maurice Richard Arena in Montreal, Quebec. The defending champion Rachel Homan rink won their second straight title, with Homan becoming the youngest skip to ever win back-to-back championships. The team went undefeated throughout the tournament, with the team never even being forced to throw their final rock in any of their games. Teams Returning as defending champions were the Rachel Homan rink from Ottawa, representing Team Canada as a result of winning the 2013 Scotties Tournament of Hearts. None of the other qualified teams had won the Scotties. Casey Scheidegger
Casey Scheidegger (born January 31, 1988) is a Canadian curler from Lethbridge, Alberta. She is a former provincial junior champion and is currently a skip on the World Curling Tour. Career Juniors Scheidegger won the 2009 Alberta Junior Curling championships with teammates Kalynn Park, younger sister Jessie Haughian, and Jayme Coutts. The rink represented Alberta at the 2009 Canadian Junior Curling Championships, where they finished the round robin in second place with a 9–3 record. However, they lost the semi-final to Manitoba's Kaitlyn Lawes. Women's Scheidegger has been playing in World Curling Tour events since the 2004–05 season. Diane Foster (curler)
Diane Foster ( Anderson; born c. 1955 or 1956) is a Canadian curler from Calgary. She is a former World Senior Curling Champion. Early life Foster grew up near Kelvington, Saskatchewan, and Hudson Bay, Saskatchewan and as a junior made it as far as the Saskatchewan provincial junior championships. Foster spent two years in Houston, Texas when her husband worked for an oil company there, before moving to Edmonton, and then to Calgary in 1985. Women's career Foster's only appearance at the national Tournament of Hearts was in 1986 as the alternate for the Alberta team, skipped by Lil Werenka. The team went 4–7, though Foster did not play any games. Foster did not qualify for the Alberta Tournament of Hearts provincial women's championship until 1996, even despite being the leading money earner in Canadian women's curling one season. Curling
Curling is a sport in which players slide stones on a sheet of ice toward a target area which is segmented into four concentric circles. It is related to bowls, boules, and shuffleboard. Two teams, each with four players, take turns sliding heavy, polished granite stones, also called ''rocks'', across the ice ''curling sheet'' toward the ''house'', a circular target marked on the ice. Each team has eight stones, with each player throwing two.
