Rachel House (actress)
Rachel Jessica Te Ao Maarama House (born 20 October 1971) is a New Zealand actress, comedian, director and acting coach. Early life House was born in 1971 in Auckland and was raised in Kamo, Whangarei, by her adoptive Scottish parents John and Sheila House. She is of Māori (Ngāti Mutunga and Ngāi Tahu) and European descent. Career Acting House attended the New Zealand national drama school, Toi Whakaari, graduating in 1992. From here she went into stage work with Pacific Underground Theatre and Auckland Theatre Company. In 1995, she won the Chapman Tripp Theatre Award Most Promising Female Newcomer of the Year Award for her performance in the one-woman show ''Nga Pou Wahine'' by Briar Grace-Smith. San Diego Comic-Con International is a comic book convention and nonprofit multi-genre entertainment event held annually in San Diego, California since 1970. The name, as given on its website, is Comic-Con International: San Diego; but it is commonly known simply as Comic-Con or the San Diego Comic-Con or SDCC. The convention was founded as the Golden State Comic Book Convention in 1970 by a group of San Diegans that included Shel Dorf, Richard Alf, Ken Krueger, Ron Graf, and Mike Towry; later, it was called the "San Diego Comic Book Convention", Dorf said during an interview that he hoped the first Con would bring in 500 attendees. Chapman Tripp Theatre Awards
The Chapman Tripp Theatre Awards were the main theatre awards in New Zealand's capital city, Wellington, from 1992–2014, and have been succeeded by the Wellington Theatre Awards. Established in 1992 and sponsored by law firm Chapman Tripp, the prestigious awards were a highlight in Wellington's art and social calendar. The presentations also recognised important contributions to the arts and the community. The winners were selected by a panel of Wellington theatre critics. The Ultraforce is a fictional superhero group that appears in American comic books published by Malibu, and later Marvel. Dame Gaylene Mary Preston (born 1 June 1947) is a New Zealand filmmaker with a particular interest in documentary films. Carol Anne Duffy
Dame Carol Ann Duffy (born 23 December 1955) is a Scottish poet and playwright. She is a professor of contemporary poetry at Manchester Metropolitan University, and was appointed Poet Laureate in May 2009, resigning in 2019. ''Waiora Te Ūkaipō - The Homeland'' is a 1996 play by New Zealand playwright Hone Kouka. The play describes the social dislocation that happens to Māori who leave their tribal lands. It is the first part of a trilogy with ''Homefires'' (1998) and '' The Prophet'' (2004), and the teenagers of ''The Prophet'' are the children of ''Waiora'''s Amiria, Rongo and Boyboy.
