Raccordo autostradale 11 (RA 11; "Motorway connection 11") or superstrada Ascoli-Mare ("Ascoli-sea expressway") is an ''autostrade of Italy, autostrada'' (Italian language, Italian for "motorway") long in Italy located in the Regions of Italy, regions of Marche and Abruzzo, and managed by ANAS, which connects Ascoli Piceno to the Autostrada A14 (Italy) , Autostrada A14 near to the Adriatic Sea, as a variant to the old route of Strada statale 4 Via Salaria, Strada statale 4 "Via Salaria" that previously carried out that function. Ascoli Piceno (; la, Asculum; dialetto ascolano: Ascule) is a town and ''comune'' in the Marche region of Italy, capital of the province of the same name. Its population is around 46,000 but the urban area of the city has more than 93,000. Geography The town lies at the confluence of the Tronto River and the small river Castellano and is surrounded on three sides by mountains. Two natural parks border the town, one on the northwestern flank ( Parco Nazionale dei Monti Sibillini) and the other on the southern (Parco Nazionale dei Monti della Laga).
