Rabbit Creek (Anchorage, Alaska)
Rabbit Creek is one of several streams that flow through the city of Anchorage, Alaska. It runs for 15 miles from the Chugach Mountains to Turnagain Arm. Before English-speaking settlers arrived in Anchorage, the Dena'ina called the creek "Ggeh Betnu." Course The headwaters of Rabbit Creek originate at at Rabbit Lake, a alpine lake at the base of North Suicide and South Suicide Peak. Rabbit Lake is a popular hiking destination and can be reached via either the Rabbit Lake Trail or the neighboring McHugh Creek drainage. The creek then descends from the Chugach Mountains and flows west through residential areas and green spaces including Griffin Park. Near its mouth at Potter Marsh it receives a tributary from Little Rabbit Creek, which drains the hillside just south of the main creek channel. Rabbit Creek is a tributary to the Humboldt River located in Elko County, Nevada Elko County is a county in the northeastern corner of Nevada, United States. The earliest water rights on the creek have a priority of 1862. Major users of the creek include Ruby Dome Ranch, Sarman Ranch, Woodbury Ranch, and Boyd Reservoir. Rabbit Creek (Nipissing District)
Rabbit Creek is a stream in the municipality of Temagami, Nipissing District, Northeastern Ontario, Canada. It is in the Ottawa River drainage basin and originates from an unnamed pond north of Christy Lake in geographic Law Township. From there it flows north then turns east to North Milne Lake. It heads northeast under Highway 11 to an unnamed lake, passes into geographic Askin Township, reaches Hornet Lake and takes in the right tributary Angus Creek where it travels along the Ontario Northland Railway to its mouth at Rabbit Lake. Rabbit Lake flows via the Matabitchuan River and Lake Timiskaming to the Ottawa River. A train derailment occurred along the Ontario Northland Railway at Mileage 63.4 on 14 March, 2000. The accident involved 17 cars that rolled down an embankment, two of which were leaking sulfuric acid.
