''Rabbids'', also known as ''Raving Rabbids'' (French: ''Lapins Crétins''), is a multimedia franchise developed and published by Ubisoft. It originated as a spin-off video game from the ''Rayman'' video game series, 2006's ''Rayman Raving Rabbids''. ''Rabbids'' is centered on a titular fictional species of mischievous rabbit-like creatures, who speak gibberish and scream wildly whenever they experience an adrenaline rush. Most video games from the franchise are of the party video game genre, though other genres have been explored as well. The Rabbids were initially introduced as antagonists in the ''Rayman'' series of games. The popularity of the characters, aided by various viral videos and media appearances, led ''Raving Rabbids'' to become its own separate franchise, dropping the ''Rayman'' name as of 2009's ''Rabbids Go Home''. ''Rabbids Go Home'' is an action-adventure video game developed and published by Ubisoft for the Wii and Nintendo DS. The game was released in North America on November 1, 2009, in Australia on November 5, 2009 and in Europe on November 6, 2009. A modified, shorter version of the game was ported to Microsoft Windows and released in Russia and Poland. ''Rabbids Go Home'' is the fourth installment in the ''Rabbids'' series of video games and is the first title in the series without Rayman. ''Rayman Raving Rabbids'' is a 2006 party video game developed and published by Ubisoft. The game is a spinoff in the ''Rayman'' series. The game consists of 75 minigames. The game was released for the PlayStation 2, Wii, Xbox 360, and Microsoft Windows systems, with a different version released for Game Boy Advance, Nintendo DS and mobile phones. Versions for GameCube, Xbox, PlayStation 3, and PlayStation Portable were planned, but were later cancelled. ''Mario + Rabbids Sparks of Hope'' is a 2022 action-adventure turn-based strategy video game developed by Ubisoft Milan and Ubisoft Paris and published by Ubisoft for the Nintendo Switch. The game is a crossover between Nintendo's ''Mario'' and Ubisoft's ''Rabbids'' franchises and is a sequel to ''Mario + Rabbids Kingdom Battle'' (2017). ''Rabbids Invasion'' (french: Les Lapins Crétins : Invasion) is a French computer-animated television series based on Ubisoft's '' Raving Rabbids'' video game series. It is a co-production of Ubisoft Motion Pictures, TeamTO and CNC. The show was developed by Jean-Louis Momus, and stars Damien Laquet as the voice of the Rabbids. The show premiered on 3 August 2013 on France 3. The first three seasons, each with 26 episodes, aired between 2013 and 2017. A fourth season aired on France 3 in 2018 and it was released worldwide through Netflix on 1 July 2019. Michel Ancel
Michel Ancel (; born 29 March 1972) is a French video game designer. He is best known for creating the ''Rayman'' franchise and was the lead designer or director for several of the games, including ''Rayman Origins'' and its sequel ''Rayman Legends''. He is also known for the critically acclaimed (if poorly selling) video game ''Beyond Good & Evil'', as well as for ''King Kong'', based on Peter Jackson's film ''King Kong'', which both sold well and was critically acclaimed.
