Ra Vincent
Ra Vincent (born ) is a New Zealand production designer, set decorator and artist. He is best known for his work on ''The Hobbit'' trilogy (2012–2014) and ''Jojo Rabbit'' (2019). His accolades include a Hollywood Film Award and a Saturn Award, in addition to nominations for a BAFTA Award, two Academy Awards and two Critics' Choice Movie Awards. Biography Vincent is Māori of the iwi Te Atiawa and in addition to his screen work he has produced a number of public sculptures. He started training as an artist in 1997 at the Nelson Marlborough Institute of Technology. In film and television, the production designer is the individual responsible for the overall aesthetic of the story. The production design gives the viewers a sense of the time period, the plot location, and character actions and feelings. Working directly with the director, cinematographer, and producer, production designers have a key creative role in the creation of motion pictures and television. The term ''production designer'' was coined by William Cameron Menzies while he was working on the film ''Gone with the Wind''. Waitangi Park
Waitangi Park, a remodelled recreation space in Te Aro, Wellington, New Zealand, dates from 2006. It lies near Te Papa (the National Museum of New Zealand), Former Post and Telegraph Building and Courtenay Place. The facility includes a waka-launching area, a children's playground, a skateboard zone, and a large grassy space. Geography and history The Waitangi stream formerly flowed from around Wellington Hospital in Newtown along Adelaide Road to the Basin Reserve and then along what is now Kent and Cambridge Terraces. Its outlet was the Waitangi lagoon or swamp, formed by a shingle beach which periodically gave way, causing clumps of flax and toetoe to float out into the harbour.
