RTÉ Libraries And Archives
The RTÉ Libraries and Archives are a collection of photographs, sounds recordings, video footage and written records (of articles such as scripts) in various formats across a wide range of topics pertaining to Irish life and society. The collection is derived from the material used by Raidió Teilifís Éireann in their activities as national broadcaster for Ireland. Photographs
A photograph (also known as a photo, image, or picture) is an image created by light falling on a photosensitive surface, usually photographic film or an electronic image sensor, such as a CCD or a CMOS chip. Raidi (; ; also written Ragdi; born August, 1938) is a Tibetan politician of the People's Republic of China. He served as a vice chairman of the Standing Committee of the National People's Congress from 2003 to 2008, and the highest ranking Tibetan in China. Public Broadcaster
Public broadcasting involves radio, television and other electronic media outlets whose primary mission is public service. Licence Fee
A television licence or broadcast receiving licence is a payment required in many countries for the reception of television broadcasts, or the possession of a television set where some broadcasts are funded in full or in part by the licence fee paid. The fee is sometimes also required to own a radio or receive radio broadcasts. A TV licence is therefore effectively a hypothecated tax for the purpose of funding public broadcasting, thus allowing public broadcasters to transmit television programmes without, or with only supplemental funding from radio and television advertisements. TV50
''TV50'' was a series of special events throughout 2012, celebrating the 50th anniversary of the launch of RTÉ Television, then known as Telefís Éireann, on 31 December 1961. Launch ''TV50'' was officially launched on 26 December 2011 when a pre-launch placeholder website went online at RTÉ. The full ''TV50'' site went live at noon on New Year's Eve 2011. The broadcaster intended TV50 to be a year-long celebration. The festivities saw as many as twenty archive programmes launched each month on RTÉ Player. RTÉ History
(RTÉ) (; Irish for "Radio & Television of Ireland") is the national broadcaster of Ireland headquartered in Dublin. It both produces and broadcasts programmes on television, radio and online.
