ROTC Medal For Heroism
The ROTC Medal for Heroism is the highest United States Department of the Army medal awarded exclusively to Army Reserve Officers' Training Corps cadets. This award is presented to cadets who perform acts of heroism. As with other Department of the Army decorations, the award consists of a medal and ribbon, accompanied by DA Form 638. In the Army, this award is also known as the Medal of Heroism. Criteria for award To be awarded this decoration, cadets must distinguish themselves by acts of heroism. The act must: *Result in an accomplishment so exceptional/outstanding as to set a cadet apart *Involve acceptance of danger or extraordinary responsibilities The Soldier's Medal is an authorized award in place of the Medal for Heroism for acts of heroism performed at Cadet Troop Leader Training. Philadelphia Military Academy (PMA) is a military school in North Philadelphia, Pennsylvania. The school opened for the 2004–2005 school year as the Philadelphia Military Academy at Leeds in the Cedarbrook neighborhood of Philadelphia. The school opened with an enrollment of 157 ninth grade cadets. The academy was housed at the Leeds middle school. A second edition of the program was housed at Elverson High School in the 2005–2006 school year. This site is the current location of the school after a merger in the latter years. 2019 University Of North Carolina At Charlotte Shooting
On April 30, 2019, a mass shooting occurred at the University of North Carolina at Charlotte. The shooting, which occurred on the last day of classes for the spring semester, sent six people to the hospital, two of whom were dead upon arrival, and left three others in critical condition. The shooting occurred inside a classroom in the Woodford A. Kennedy Building while students were giving a final presentation. The perpetrator, a former UNCC student named Trystan Andrew Terrell, was arrested shortly afterwards. The Junior Reserve Officers' Training Corps (JROTC -- commonly pronounced "JAY-rotsee") is a federal program sponsored by the United States Armed Forces in high schools and also in some middle schools across the United States and at US military bases across the world. Superior Cadet Decoration Award
The Superior Cadet Decoration Award is the second highest Department of the Army medal awarded exclusively to Reserve Officers' Training Corps cadets. This award is presented annually to the outstanding cadet in each year of Military Science at each of the respective ROTC units. As with other Department of the Army decorations, the award consists of a medal, ribbon, and lapel button with case, accompanied by DA Form 1773 ("Citation for the Superior Cadet Decoration Award") signed by the regimental commander on behalf of the Secretary of the Army. The Army Reserve Officers' Training Corps (AROTC) is the United States Army component of the Reserve Officers' Training Corps. The Soldier's Medal is an individual decoration of the United States Army. It was introduced as Section 11 of the Air Corps Act, passed by the Congress of the United States on July 2, 1926., Appendix 5, p. 126. The Army' Soldier's Medal is equivalent to the Navy and Marine Corps Medal, the Air Force and Space Force's Airman's Medal, and the Coast Guard Medal.
