ROCS ''Yueh Fei'' (岳飛, PFG2-1106), is a ''Cheng Kung''-class guided-missile frigate of the Republic of China Navy. Construction and career ''Yueh Fei'' was laid down on 5 September 1992 by the China SB Corp., in Kaohsiung City, launched on 26 August 1994, and commissioned in February 1996. She is the fourth ship of the ''Cheng Kung''-class frigates. As of 2005, ''Yueh Fei'' is home ported at ROCN Tso-Ying naval base. The Republic of China Navy (ROCN; ), also called the ROC Navy and colloquially the Taiwan Navy, is the maritime branch of the Republic of China Armed Forces (ROCAF). Hsiung Feng II
The Hsiung Feng II (HF-2; , "Brave Wind II") is an anti-ship missile system developed by the National Chung-Shan Institute of Science and Technology (NCSIST) in Taiwan. The HF-2 is designed to be deployed aboard ships or at facilities on land. An airborne version has also been developed which can be carried by the ROC Air Force's F-CK fighters. A frigate () is a type of warship. In different eras, the roles and capabilities of ships classified as frigates have varied somewhat. The name frigate in the 17th to early 18th centuries was given to any full-rigged ship built for speed and maneuverability, intended to be used in scouting, escort and patrol roles. Cheng Kung Class Frigate
The ''Cheng Kung''-class frigates are eight guided-missile frigates in service in the Republic of China Navy (ROCN). They are based upon the U.S. and built by China Shipbuilding Corporation in Kaohsiung, Taiwan under license throughout the 1990s as part of the Kuang Hua I project. These frigates served as the mainstay of the ROCN's area air defense capability prior to the acquisition of the ''Keelung'' (''Kidd'')-class destroyers in 2005.
