Rukometni klub Mladi Rudar Labin (formerly RK Rudan Labin) is a men's handball club from Labin, Istria County. History The club was founded on October 23, 2000 under the name ''Handball Association "Mladi Rudar"'' (youth team), as a handball organization for the education and development of young handball players for the needs of the MRK Rudar Labin, which in the 2000/01 season competed in the 1st A HRL. However, "Rudar" got into financial problems, and they were called "RK Istra" for a short time. They gave up the 1.A HRL for the 2001/02 season, and the club shut down. Labin (Italian/Istriot: Albona) is a town in Istria, west Croatia, with a town population of 5,806 (2021) and 10,424 in the greater municipality (which also includes the small towns of Rabac and Vinež, as well as a number of smaller villages). The Croatian Handball Premier League ( hr, Hrvatska rukometna premijer liga) is the highest men's team handball, handball league in Croatia. It is organized by the Croatian Handball Federation (''Hrvatski rukometni savez''). The league comprises 16 teams. The league was formed in 1991 with the dissolution of the Yugoslav leagues. Format In the first phase, eight teams from two groups compete in a home-and-away round-robin series. All teams advance from the regular season to one of two postseason stages, depending on their league position. The European Handball Federation (EHF) is the umbrella organisation for European handball. Founded on 17 November 1991, it is made of 50 member federations and two associated federations (England and Scotland), and is headquartered in Vienna, Austria. History EHF was founded on 17 November 1991 in Berlin, Germany, although the first EHF Congress convened on 5 June 1992 and assigned EHF's headquarters to Vienna, Austria from 1 September that year. Muški rukometni klub Rudar (''MRK Rudar''; ''Rudar''; ''Rudar Labin'') was a men's handball club from Labin, Istria County. History The club was founded as the Handball Section of DTO "Partizan" in March 1954. The women's team was formed in the fall of 1955. It started competing in the Istrian Sub-Federal League in the spring of 1955, and played as "Partizan Podlabin". In the seasons 1958/59 and 1959/60 "Partizan" played in the Primorsko-Istarska regional league. In the 1960/61 season it did not perform, and in the 1961/62 season and 1962/63 they played in the ''Istarskoj zonskoj ligi'', and in the 1963/64 season in the Inter-municipal league Pazin-Rovinj-Pula-Labin. ŽRK Rudar Labin is a Croatian women's handball club based in Labin. It was established in 1954. It plays in the 2. HRL West. Several notable players from the club went on the play for the national team, both Croatia's and Yugoslavia's. The players are nicknamed ''the swans''. History In 1964 the club reached for the first time the playoffs to the first Yugoslav league. In 1966, Rudar reached the playoffs again, but was eliminated by Rijeka's Zamet. In 1974 they reached the finals of the Croatian Cup, eliminating Zagreb's Lokomotiva. In 1976, the youth team won the Croatian championship. The first team won the title of second league champions in 1976/77, won the qualifications in Belgrade and thus reached Yugoslavia's first league. Handball (also known as team handball, European handball or Olympic handball) is a team sport in which two teams of seven players each (six outcourt players and a goalkeeper) pass a ball using their hands with the aim of throwing it into the goal of the other team.
