Rukometni klub Danilovgrad is a handball club from Danilovgrad. The club has a rich history and tradition and is a member of Montenegrin Men's Handball First League. History For the most of the past, Danilovgrad played in the Montenegrin Republic League, with few seasons in the Second League. After the Montenegrin independence, club became a member of Second League, and gained the historical promotion to the Montenegrin First League in the summer 2009. Danilovgrad ( cnr, Даниловград) is a town in central Montenegro. It has a population of 6,852 (2011 census). It is situated in the Danilovgrad Municipality which lies along the main route between Montenegro's two largest cities, Podgorica and Nikšić. Via villages, Danilovgrad forms part of a conurbation with Podgorica. The town of Danilovgrad is located in the fertile valley of the Zeta River, sometimes called also the Bjelopavlići plain, after the name of the local clan. It is the centre of the Danilovgrad municipality, which has a population of 18,472. An independence referendum was held in Montenegro on 21 May 2006. By 23 May, preliminary referendum results were recognized by all five permanent members of the United Nations Security Council, suggesting widespread international recognition if Montenegro were to become formally independent. On 31 May, the referendum commission officially confirmed the results of the referendum, verifying that 55.5% of the population of Montenegrin voters had voted in favor of independence. Because voters met the controversial threshold requirement of 55% approval, the referendum was incorporated into a declaration of independence during a special parliamentary session on 31 May. The Montenegrin Second League of Men's Handball is the lower Men's handball league in Montenegro. It is organized by the Handball Federation of Montenegro. The league has seven teams. Handball (also known as team handball, European handball or Olympic handball) is a team sport in which two teams of seven players each (six outcourt players and a goalkeeper) pass a ball using their hands with the aim of throwing it into the goal of the other team. A standard match consists of two periods of 30 minutes, and the team that scores more goals wins. Modern handball is played on a court of , with a goal in the middle of each end.
