RK Bjelovar
RK Bjelovar (Rukometni Klub Bjelovar) is a team handball club from Bjelovar, Croatia formed in 1955. The club currently competes in the Croatian Second League of Handball (North) and the Croatian Handball Cup. During Communist Yugoslavia, the club was known as Partizan, named after the Second World War's Yugoslav Partisans. After Croatian independence in 1991, the current name was adopted. Despite being the most successful club in Yugoslavia, it has had little success since the 1980 season and has been thoroughly eclipsed by RK Zagreb in modern Croatian handball. Croatian Handball Premier League
The Croatian Handball Premier League ( hr, Hrvatska rukometna premijer liga) is the highest men's team handball, handball league in Croatia. It is organized by the Croatian Handball Federation (''Hrvatski rukometni savez''). The league comprises 16 teams. The league was formed in 1991 with the dissolution of the Yugoslav leagues. Format In the first phase, eight teams from two groups compete in a home-and-away round-robin series. All teams advance from the regular season to one of two postseason stages, depending on their league position. The top four teams from the regular season play in the Championship Round, while the bottom four teams play in the Relegation Round. At the end of the season, the bottom finisher is automatically relegated to the second league. Željko Nimš
Željko Nimš (born 22 April 1950) is a Croatian handball player who competed in the 1976 Summer Olympics for Yugoslavia. In 1976 he was part of the Yugoslav team which finished fifth in the Olympic tournament. He played three matches. He was a part of RK Bjelovar squad (at the time called ''Partizan'') that won European Champions's Cup against West German squad VfL Gummersbach, in a game played in Dortmund. Mirko Bašić
Mirko Bašić (born 14 September 1960 in Bjelovar, SFR Yugoslavia) is a former Croatian handball player who competed in the 1984 Summer Olympics and in the 1988 Summer Olympics. He has also played six EHF Champions League finals winning two in 1984–85 and 1985–86 as part of the famous RK Metaloplastika which dominated European handball in the 1980s (often referred to as ''Handball Aliens''). Bašić was a big influence on Thierry Omeyer who is regarded as the greatest goalkeeper in handball history. Career At the age of 16 Bašić debuted for RK Partizan Bjelovar.
